An interesting post on Eurobricks by juraj3579, describing a method to render LDraw models with blender.

Thumbs Up 61254.dat?
Posted by: Sean Burke - 2013-06-18, 19:29 - Forum: Part Requests - Replies (6)

I'm currently working on an official model which requires part 61254, listed as "TYRE LOW NARROW Ø24x7MM" in LEGO's database. It doesn't appear to be in either the most recent AIOI, complete.zip, or the parts tracker, but the most recent ldraw.xml makes reference to a "Tyre Small New" as 61254.dat. Does this part actually exist? If not, I would like to request it. This part does exist within LDD.

Thumbs Up Missing parts from set 30167 - Iron Man vs. Fighting Drone
Posted by: Sean Burke - 2013-06-14, 9:39 - Forum: Part Requests - Replies (9)

Two physical parts are missing, 10907 Helmet No. 5 and 10908 Visor Nr. 1 (the Iron Man helmet and visor). Both are in LDD as part of the Extended theme. If desired, I can try to get them in a rough DAT format. Note that the visor has a few different color schemes. Eye color and face color both differ from the base color of the piece and are both different from each other. BrickLink separates these into http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=10908pb01, http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=10908pb02 and http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=10908pb03.

There are also some patterns missing. The minifig head has different Tony Stark faces on both sides (http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=3626cpb705), and there is a torso pattern (printed both sides, http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=973pb1106c01) and a legs pattern (http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=970c00pb154). I can attempt to provide scans for these if needed.

Any help is appreciated.

  Raspberry Pi case
Posted by: Jim DeVona - 2013-06-11, 20:21 - Forum: MOCs (My Own Creations) - No Replies

[Image: 8999585691_bcdee34e79_n.jpg][Image: 9000904262_ca2bfccbe4_n.jpg]

I recently got a Raspberry Pi - a fun and useful little $35 computer. It does not come with a case, so, like many people, I built one out of LEGO. My design is not necessarily the most clever or attractive, but I did create an LDraw model of it, which I've attached. I've also posted an LPub-ified copy and some instructions in this GitHub repository, which I intend to update if I make revisions to the case design. Last but not least, I've posted the instructions and some photos of the actual case in this Flickr gallery.

  Colours
Posted by: Michael J. Bagg - 2013-06-03, 17:57 - Forum: Help - Replies (1)

Hi,
I am new to MLCad but I've managed so far to build a couple of subjects.
However, I am curious on the amount of colours available to use?
I would like to know if there is a method of increasing the amount & if
there is, I would like to know how?
Thanks
Michael

MLCAD: ghost arrows spontaneously revert to non-ghosted
Posted by: Aaron S - 2013-06-02, 17:47 - Forum: LDraw Editors and Viewers - No Replies

In my MLCAD multi-part files, I will have arrows ghosted in submodels. When I look at the model that the submodel is in, the arrows are invisible, as they should be.

However, sometimes after making changes to the submodel, or closing and reopening the file, the arrows have unghosted themselves. Sometimes re-ghosting them in the submodel is sufficient to fix this, but sometimes I have to edit the .mpd file in notepad to replace the instances of "0 MLCAD ARROW" with "0 GHOST 0 MLCAD ARROW".

Has anyone else experienced this behaviour?

(Also, as an aside, is there any situation where you wouldn't want an arrow to be ghosted?)

  Bowtie quads within official parts
Posted by: Valentin Michelet - 2013-05-31, 8:16 - Forum: Parts Authoring - Replies (14)

Hi everyone,

I'm currently developing a software that renders official parts. I recently figured out that some of them contain bowtie quads. So I implemented an algorithm to detect and correct them.

Is it interesting to post here an exhausted list of faulty part files?
FYI, that concerns at least 70 files over 7000. So that's not much, but I reckon official parts have to respect that rule.
I can also code something to fix bowtie quads within .dat files - and not only within the rendering process - and submit corrected files on this forum for new validation.

Let me know what I should do.

V.
