  3D Viewer work
Posted by: Orion Pobursky - 2019-11-17, 19:52 - Forum: Website Suggestions/Requests/Discussion - Replies (65)

I'm gonna be refactoring the 3D view code used on the PT, Official Library pages, and OMR. You may notice some irregularities over the next week or so but don't worry it'll get fixed. Now is also the time for requests.

LDPub3D - assembly scale vs camera distance
Posted by: CJ H. - 2019-11-17, 10:05 - Forum: LDraw Editors and Viewers - Replies (5)

I'm just getting started with LPub3D (after running into Studio's limits with flexible parts and switching to LDCad).  I'm having trouble with something that seems pretty basic; I'm sure I'm missing something obvious.  In the Configuration>Build Instructions Setup>Assembly Setup menu, a couple of different tutorials mention a scale setting.  However in my LPub3d (v2.3.12), I only find "Camera Distance", which seems to do something similar.

Could someone explain the difference between "camera distance" and "scale"?  And where can I set the global default scale and then modify it for a given page in the instructions?

Tongue LDraw for background plates for my Lego Animation
Posted by: Carruthers - 2019-11-15, 3:47 - Forum: MOCs (My Own Creations) - No Replies

Hi there - new user on the forum, but have been using LDraw tools for a while now.

I recently released a new Lego animation on my channel.  I did the animation by hand using stop-motion techniques, but I used LeoCad, LDView, and PovRay to make the backgrounds, which I composited in using Adobe After Effects.  I hope you enjoy!

  6592 Vacation Hideaway
Posted by: Stefan Frenz - 2019-11-13, 20:53 - Forum: Official Models - Replies (7)

Hi there,

next model I'd like to contribute is 6592 Vacation Hideaway, released 1990. Very small, but I liked it very much decades ago. Wink
Done with LDCad 1.6c / Linux64.

Edit: the roof window is missing a sticker.

Any comment is highly welcome, regards
Stefan

  LDCad—Tying the knot
Posted by: N. W. Perry - 2019-11-13, 0:57 - Forum: LDraw Editors and Viewers - Replies (14)

Me again. :-)

Any way to get the bezier curves tighter in the string template? The current limit of 5 isn't quite enough to tie this not:

It looks okay from above, but in the front view, you can see the loop doesn't draw in snugly. (I tried adding an extra path point on the bottom of the loop, but it just made all the corners square off.) I should also add that I'm using the Studio workaround, so the donor parts are 4-4cyli's rather than LDCad's donor parts. (It actually seems to curve more tightly this way.)

Require Bricklink ID for pattern parts
Posted by: Orion Pobursky - 2019-11-12, 17:16 - Forum: Official File Specifications/Standards - Replies (6)

I'd like to revise the Library guideline to require the Bricklink patterned part ID in the keywords. This is already (mostly) standard practice, I'd just like to codify it. This will also make it easier for sites like Rebrickable to automate pattern cross referencing.
