I'm working on a part database that contains various metadata collected from the official LDraw library files and am having troubles with applying the file naming conventions. Specifically, some parts in the library have names that do not seem to conform to the part number spec.

For example, the library has parts 003497g and 003497h, but the spec states that the part variants should be sequenced chronologically starting with the variant 'a', which is obviously not the case for this part. The same is true for some other parts, too.

Next, there are parts 10715pNN, which, according to the spec, should be patterned versions of part 10715, but in fact these are not even patterned parts in the first place, and also the library contains no part 10715. Again, the same is true for some other parts in the library.

Similarly, there are parts 25866c01 and 25866c02, which, according to the spec, should be shortcut assemblies of part 25866 that doesn't exist. And once again, the same is true for other parts as well.

Overall, I stumbled upon 65 questionable cases. Not too many, I know, but some of them are related to parts added to the library in the latest update, which might indicate that there is a problem that could affect future updates, too.

Am I missing something in the spec document or not all library file names are actually strictly following the spec rules?

Hi,

I am looking for some lego technic car 3d models. I saw some really cool ones here. Are they community efforts or from lego company?

Because I saw multiple people contributing to the same models so I assumed they are community creations?

Is there any way to download any of these models for personal use? I am a VFX artist so I thought it would be cool to do some simulations and renderings with the awesome models using Houdini:

This hairpiece was used for Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas in 71024 Disney Series 2, and it would also come in handy for a LEGO Ideas project I’m working on.

For reasons unknown, when I try to open the LDView.exe it only shows on the task manager for 2 seconds and then disappears. It was working before (about a week ago), I had everything setup to run LDCad, convert with LDView, and render in POV-Ray.

LDCad and POV-Ray work just fine, but LDView suddenly stopped operating. I have tried everything I know, including but not limited to cleanups, scans, check disk, defrag, etc. And went on and did a clean installation of the LDraw AIOI.

After re-installing the AIOI, LDView is still not working. Any ideas on troubleshooting? Everything is updated to the latest (stable) version in the PC (I avoid betas).

Update:

• The effect appears to only be caused by AMD drivers, I will keep track of this for the next updates.
  
• You can immediately gain back the use of LDView by uninstalling the Radeon Software (in this specific case, meaning if you updated to anything after 20.12.1).
  
• If you would like to have access to the video card functionality with the previous version of the software, you can download it on the official AMD website by clicking this link and scrolling down to the installation package: Radeon Software version 20.12.1
  
• In the very rare event that the uninstall fails, AMD provides a cleanup tool that you can run to remove traces of the Radeon Software. Follow this link for the AMD Cleanup Utility.

Hi all,

For a model I need to do something like this:

It is a flextube formed in a certain way using LDCad.
Then, that same tube needs to be "filled" with 2x2 round plates to make the curve
And 2x2 round bricks where the tube is 3 plates high/long and straight.

Would this be possible with a template?

A two part question: 

1) I've been modeling a part in Blender (the Lego gel pen) that I would like to convert LDraw so that I can use it in LDCad and LPub3D. Going the other direction (LDraw to Blender) is easy with the import extension for LDraw, but I haven't seen any discussion about the opposite workflow. Any suggestions of what to try? 

2) I'd be very happy if the work I'm doing on this part could contribute back to the LDraw library, if anyone would be interested to take what I've done and clean it up to meet the LDraw standard.

Maybe I'm going about this the wrong way and I should be authoring in LDraw to start with, but from what I can tell (or at least based on the skills I have), modeling in Blender is a lot easier.

6.03(a), the 2020/2021 Steering Committee hereby calls for the community to
nominate individuals as candidates for the 2021/2022 Steering Committee[1].

Please post nominations in response to this message. Nominations will only be
recognized if they are in response to this message.

Per ss.6.03(a), you must specify the name of the person you are nominating,
along with your name. Another member of the community must second the nomination
in a reply, and the nominee must publicly accept the nomination in the same
channel (direct reply to the nomination or second) in order to be valid. If the
nominee does not accept, it will be assumed that he or she has declined, and
they will not be placed on the ballot.

Nominations will close at 11:59 PM GMT on 28 February 2021. This means that to
be listed on the ballot, a candidate must have been nominated, seconded and must
have formally stated acceptance by that time.

The Steering Committee will give sufficient notice of the election and election
procedures per ss.6.03(b).

NOTE: subsection 6.03(b) states that elections should take place before March 1.
We interpret this to mean that we will commence the election on March 1, but
since it is electronic, it will run for 2 weeks, just as last time. The exact
time and date of start and end will be announced sometime very close to (but
after) 0000 GMT March 1.

I'm trying to get Part 54568 into Studio. I tried downloading the file from this link https://www.ldraw.org/cgi-bin/ptdetail.c.../54568.dat However when I try to import the file into Parts Designer it says "Parts not found: s/54568s01.dat". I noticed I didn't have a subfile or something downloaded so I made sure to download the subfile from the link as well and its file name is 54568s01.dat. But even though I have both files downloaded, Parts Designer still shows the same error message about the missing part and I don't know what to do.
