An updated version of the LDraw All-In-One-Installer, in short AIOI, has been released.
The AIOI supports Windows XP (Home and Pro), Windows Vista or higher (all versions). On 64-Bit Operating Systems it will install in the "Program files (x86)" folder. The Installer will NOT run on Windows 95, 98, ME, NT Ver 4, 2000, or XP below SP2.
It contains the following changes:
* Update to LDraw Parts Libary 2020-01
* Update to LDCad 1.6d
* Update to Offline Parts Catalog 2020-01
You can download the AIOI from:

Current Website Vision |

I'd like to give everyone a quick status update of where I'm headed with the LDraw.org website eco-system.
My overall vision is twofold:
- Unify the site theming to better present our information
- Reduce the amount of "nut and bolts" admining that needs to happen by reducing the various software platforms we use. I realize that we have 5 different software packages running on the server. 2 of these are custom written for LDraw.org (the OMR and the Parts Tracker). The other 3 are not (Forums, Main site CMS, and the Wiki). I don't see the last 3 going away anytime soon since I'm not going to reinvent the wheel and write our own forum/CMS/wiki implementation. However, the less dependencies we have, the less we have to worry about projects being abandoned resulting in us having to change software (like we did with the old forum software).
The theming project is ongoing from when it started last year. Expect this to spread to the OMR and in a limited sense to the Forums and Wiki. The Forums and Wiki will be more difficult because the software platforms in use have their own particular theme systems that don't mesh neatly with the one in use by the main site CMS
I'm also looking to retire the wiki and omr subdomains. Eventually the PT will be rewritten but this won't happen anytime in the near future. However, the OMR is much like a PT for models so I may use it to get experience writing software of a similar nature. Note this is all in the preplanning phase and no obvious action will happen until, most likely, the last few month of the year.
P.S. If you have any specific suggestions for the websites, there's a thread for that, please post it there.

Virtual Blox - LDraw in VR |

Hi, I hope this is the right corner of the forum.
I wanted to show you a small project I have worked on: Virtual Blox.
It is a brick builder in VR which uses LDraw parts for the models.
Currently only Pin connections are supported and a limited part selection, but
smaller models can now be build in VR.
If you want to have a look, go to https://essometer.itch.io/virtual-blox

Unoffical parts access |

I noticed the 'article/14.html' page is a 404 now.
I expected to find the unofficial parts zip on the latest parts page, but instead it's (hidden?) on the part tracker page which is very big and slow imho.
Shouldn't there be at least a reference to the unofficial zip on the main parts page?

Side profile script help |

Hello,
I know this is possible but I know nothing of Regular expression.
I would like to have a script that looks at the physical size of the model, then exports 6 images (one for each ortho view: front, back, left, right, top, and bottome) that are all at 300dpi based on the physical size. This will make a 1:1, 300dpi rendering of perfect size shots.
Can someone help? I need it for making decals for many of the trains I create.
Thanks in advance.

Disallow !KEYWORDS in subparts |

We disallow !KEYWORDS meta-statement in subparts, on the understanding that this language feature is provided to help LDraw users (of tools that implement it) to find 'parts' in the library. An LDraw user should not generally be interested in subparts.
The header checker used to verify files when building a Parts Update detects subparts containing !KEYWORDS and these are removed from the headers prior to release. There were a few instances of this error in unofficial files submitted prior to that header checker being implemented in the Parts Tracker submit script, which have now been corrected.
The documentation here, only talks about the meta-statement being used in parts, but does not explicitly state that it should not be used in subparts. The only sentence that comes close is in the Scope section:
Quote:The !KEYWORDS meta-statement may appear in models but it is not used in primitives.
Can we please extend that sentence with ', or subparts', and clarify this restriction in the Official Library Header Specification.

Dat file line type 1 explanation |

Hello,
I am trying to write some lines to scale a part in the PLI in Lpub3D. If I have it correct, I need to use the scaling functions in the line for this part. I read the article here https://www.ldraw.org/article/218.html but the only given parts are the x,y,z coordinates as the first 3 characters.
Can someone explain what the rest of the numbers do? I know some are a scale, some are rotation, and I *think* that some are a repeat but I have no idea.
1 <colour> x y z a b c d e f g h i <file>
I am looking at "a b c d e f g h i" in case my post makes no sense.
Thanks,
Cam
PS if I am barking up the wrong tree, please help me understand. I have a custom part that renders MUCH to large in the PLI in Lpub3D and I would like it to show at a smaller size.
