  3DWin and Wavefront Obj
Posted by: Michael Horvath - 2013-10-18, 1:55 - Forum: LDraw File Processing and Conversion - Replies (17)

Can anyone tell me why 3DWin fails to properly convert this file to LDR?

It shows up fine in meshlab.

Has anyone played this? Is it multiplayer only? Is the terrain destructible?

  Conditional lines on part cylinders
Posted by: Ronald Vallenduuk - 2013-10-17, 6:58 - Forum: Parts Authoring - Replies (2)

Why do the part cylinders (n-fcyli.dat) have a conditional line at their edge? One control point lies inside the part but the second one lies outside. In a lot of cases that outside one will be wrong. When it is you have to add another conditional line with the correct control points but that means you have two lines in the same position.
I guess this is one of those things that are now impossible to fix because of the sheer number of parts you'd have to update.

  Rubber bands
Posted by: Roland Melkert - 2013-10-10, 21:06 - Forum: Parts Authoring - Replies (12)

I'm working on a generic rubber band template for LDCad 1.3 but noticed there are no rubber band parts in the official library, so I'm a bit unclear on the dimensions and shape to use for it.

I noticed most technic poly wheels have different bevels, yet the only part name reference I could find state the band is 'square'.

Any pointers from would be appreciated.

I'm using this for now:

ldcRubberBandSeg.dat

Code:
1 16 0 0 0 2 0 0 0 1 0 0 0 2 box4o8a.dat
1 16 0 0 0 2 0 0 0 1 0 0 0 2 ldcConRect-4-4.dat
1 16 0 1 0 2 0 0 0 1 0 0 0 2 ldcConRect-4-4.dat

ldcConRect-4-4.dat
Code:
5 24    -1  0  -1    1 0 -1    -1  1  -1   -1  -1  -1
5 24     1  0  -1    1 0  1     1  1  -1    1  -1  -1
5 24     1  0   1   -1 0  1     1  1   1    1  -1   1
5 24    -1  0   1   -1 0 -1    -1  1   1   -1  -1   1

It produces something like the attached little model.

  Lego part #3039pb45
Posted by: Ahmed Elhassan - 2013-10-10, 19:28 - Forum: Part Requests - Replies (3)

Anyone know if this part, 3039pb45: Slope 45 2 x 2 with Aircraft Multiple Flight Controls Pattern exists in any of the latest part updates or is in development? I am trying to replicate/customize Lego kit #70701, Galaxy Squad Swarm Interceptor. I found most of the pieces the model uses in MLCAD. The slope on the other hand seems to be a newly developed/released part that isn't modeled in LDraw yet. I already tried several searches both in the forums and on the main LDraw site, using both the lego part number and the item number listed in the assembly instructions (6032098).

  Alignment of part 60616
Posted by: Ben Supnik - 2013-10-10, 3:49 - Forum: Parts Authoring - Replies (12)

Hi Y'all,

I found this comment in the latest unofficial version of 60616.

0 !HELP To place the glass on 30179.dat, have it -32LDU on the X-axis
0 !HELP relative to the door to place it correctly.
0 !HELP Stud is at 57,70,3.75/-3.75

But from what I can tell, to place the part in the newer frame (60596) I need a 5 LDU Z offset. For the older frame (30179) the holes aren't drawn in and I don't have the real part to examine.

Is the help tip wrong? Am I wrong in my estimated alignment? And...is it possible that the part will change its origin before it is made official? (If I have read the tracker properly, the part has one yes vote and just needs a few more votes.)

Cheers
Ben

  Tiny turbos
Posted by: Massimo Maso - 2013-10-09, 15:57 - Forum: Official Models - Replies (103)

Hello to all,
I will upload the Tiny turbos models and similars that I made .
You can use it freely, I give it ' Free ONLY for NON-Commercial Use ' .
At the time are referred as "Unofficial model" but only because they were not verified by other people.
In case of errors or problems reported me. Thanks.

Here are some notes for possible improvements

They collected all the models of the Tiny turbod series , some of the Ferrari series and one series Batman were included because made with the same size / architecture.

There are about 100 box-sets that I organized in the following way :
1 ldr file for each box-set with only a vehicle ;
1 mpd file for each box-set with more than one vehicle and/or with independent structure (buildings, track, ...).

If there are moving parts (hooks, trailers , tippers, ...) I created more ldr files for a single vehicle in order to simplify a possible next animation .
In order not to complicate the archive , however, wheels and rotors have been incorporated into the one file ldr of the vehicle.
In the mpd file of a box-set, each vehicle has its own independent structure (ldr file).

The basic idea is to assign names to the following :
xxxx [x ] - [ yyy ] - [ z ] - [ u]
xxxx [ x ] is the code box ( four or five digits)
yyyyyy is the option code for the second box , if the vehicle is a combination
z is the progressive optional for different independent models inside the box
u is a letter optional for the parts that make up the model , and that can move between them.

With this idea the made ldr files have grown to about 400 .

As for the choice of colors , I tried to respect those provided by Lego, but it is possible that some have escaped me.

I did not use stickers: I do not like in real life and I prefer not to use them even in the virtual world.

Ldr files were introduced in the steps for building: do not reflect the official ones of the instruction manual.
The models are built bottom-up , the last pieces of the vehicles are always wheels and tires.

The vehicles are all oriented with the longitudinal axis x and muzzle in a positive direction.

Some parts, used to build the models, are not yet available in the official version LDraw.
If there is at least the unofficial version, I've used it.
There are still some parts are not available.
What follows is the list of the missing parts in each model.
