Posted by: Willy Tschager - 2016-02-12, 10:39 - Forum: General LDraw.org Discussion - Replies (4)

Hi,

according to LDFind we have currently 7033 unique parts in the library. Correct?

  Lpub3D povray 3.7 rendering setting
Posted by: Jono - 2016-02-12, 6:10 - Forum: LDraw Editors and Viewers - Replies (3)

G'day. I have installed the latest AIO setup and updated Lpub3D. When im using Lpub3d and the renderer as povray, can the rendered pics be of higher detail so to speak. Everything is set as it was installed. the povray selected setting is
[1920x1080 16:9 AA 0.3]
Width=1920
Height=1080
Antialias=On
Antialias_Threshold=0.3

but this gives blocky pixleated images in Lpub3d. So I wondering if I can make them high detail even maybe to the point of realism. I have attached a screen shot where you can see how I would like to change the quality of the lego renders.
Cheers Jono

  98385 Minifig Hair Spiked
Posted by: Ethan Reed - 2016-02-10, 22:45 - Forum: Part Requests - Replies (7)

I've looked all around, and no one seems to have asked for his part yet (which I'm actually kind of surprised about). It's not the easiest part, but I've found it's used a lot, so if anyone could put themselves up for it, that'd be great. Smile

  LPub3D - rotstep
Posted by: Jetro de Château - 2016-02-08, 17:43 - Forum: LDraw Editors and Viewers - Replies (15)

One of the hardest things to achieve is getting the perfect angle for a specific step. I normally use the standard angle, but sometimes you need to change it to show where a specific piece is attached...

I'm familiar with the use of the ROTSTEP command, both relative (which I use most) and absolute), but I was wondring if there were some better way to find the right angle than guessing the numbers.

When I used MLCad I used the preview window for the ROTSTEP command, but I haven't found anything similar in MLCad (yet). Since LPub3D also has a 3D view pane (which I haven't found a use for yet) I was wondering if that could be used to determine the correct numbers for a specific ROTSTEP command.

  Yellow head in the library
Posted by: Willy Tschager - 2016-02-08, 14:52 - Forum: Parts Authoring - Replies (6)

Hi,

we all came across the yellow heads in the library and I always wondered why he have allowed them? The file of one of these says:

Quote:0 Minifig Head with Messy Hair and Eye Patch Pattern
0 Name: 3626bp31.dat
0 Author: Franklin W. Cain [fwcain]
0 !LDRAW_ORG Part UPDATE 2002-02
0 !LICENSE Redistributable under CCAL version 2.0 : see CAreadme.txt

0 !HELP Background color is hard-coded Yellow (14), facial hair in pattern is
0 !HELP Variable (16).
0 !HELP This part has appeared with at least three different printed colors:
0 !HELP Black (0), Red (4), and Brown (6).

The strange thing is. The 3626bp31.dat for example simply misses the stubble and we have better version in the library:

For reference have a look at BL: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?q=eyepatch

So my question is: Why do we not get rid off them?

  [LDView] PT LDview version

Travis,

A while ago we switched to ldview to render the Parts Tracker images. Do you remember what the library requirements for the executable were? I'd like to do something similar for the OMR, if possible.

  A good thing takes time!
Posted by: Willy Tschager - 2016-02-07, 16:35 - Forum: Parts Authoring - No Replies

Once upon a time,

we've got data from the LEGO Universe team. I was much excited 'cos there was this part:

http://www.ldraw.org/cgi-bin/ptdetail.cg.../30113.dat

among them. The first cleaned file on my disk dates back 06.12.2010 - where it was a welcomed distraction on a 9 hour train ride to Berlin. The overall process was boring and I set it aside 'til I read this message. As you might know initially the LDPE had some issues with the middle mouse button and therefore the prog was useless for the planed task.

BUT NOW ITS DONE!

  6825-1 Cosmic Comet
Posted by: Casey Puyleart - 2016-02-07, 1:28 - Forum: Official Models - Replies (2)

I'm new here, and just discovered this whole idea of creating digital Lego files and such. That said, I thought I'd at least try my hand at recreating a couple of my old Space Classic kits (especially since the original instructions were starting to fall apart). This is the first one I tried:

6825-1 - Cosmic Comet

I used LDCad 1.5, and then used MPDCenter to check/update for OMR compliance. At least I THINK I did it all correct. If there's something I did incorrectly, or need to change, don't hesitate to let me know. I'd like to learn on the little ones before I go crazy on some of the bigger models my kids have!
