  Invisible texmap pattern
Posted by: Magnus Forsberg - 2017-03-24, 16:25 - Forum: Parts Authoring - Replies (13)

This part
[Image: 6110077.jpg]
is now present at the Part Tracker, but the TEXMAP pattern is not visible from behind, when I use it in LDCad, on a transparent part.

Is it possible to combine a TEXMAP pattern with a BFC NOCLIP ?
If so, how should a correct file syntax look like?

  Modelled stickers
Posted by: Evert-Jan Boer - 2017-03-23, 20:36 - Forum: Parts Authoring - No Replies

I have build the Bucket Wheel Excavator some days ago and found the stickers not very difficult to model. Need to create one more to complete the set, once completed and checked I will upload these, but for now a screenshot of the work done so far to let you know these are nearly completed.

1980's and 1990's Town and Trains
Posted by: Robert Paciorek - 2017-03-21, 11:56 - Forum: Official Models - Replies (239)

Hi,

this is my first post on this forum and first part of  town and train  80's and 90's  models collection.

All models are OMR compliant (I hope it's true ... and MPDCenter says that).

Models are posted on eurobricks.com forum too (in "official lego sets made in ldraw" thread).

Question LDCad Scripting: cannot get group position/orientation
Posted by: Greg Montgomery - 2017-03-20, 3:10 - Forum: LDraw Editors and Viewers - Replies (4)

Hello everybody,

I have built a LEGO model comprising of submodels, groups and some scripting functions.
The problem is my local script in LDCad cannot determine the position or orientation of a (toplevel) group.
Calling group:getPosOri() always returns the identity matrix (0 0 0 1 0 0 0 1 0 0 0 1).

these are the relevant lines:

Code:
local mainsf = ldc.subfile() local mygroup = mainsf:getGroup('MyGroup') local posori = mygroup:getPosOri()  --> identity matrix, whereas the editor window in LDCad shows clearly different values

If required I can also provide a small working example.

Can someone please explain what is going wrong here...  Huh

using LDCad 1.6 Beta 2a

Edit: model and script added

  Referencing primtives from primitives
Posted by: Roland Melkert - 2017-03-18, 21:22 - Forum: Parts Authoring - Replies (1)

Hello all,

I was playing with 'overriding' the stud primitive for HQ povray exports when I noticed some part not using the replacement primitive.

I did the override using a second library tree containing only a p/stud.dat file and place it at the top in the LDCad search order.

Problem is with parts using stud grids (e.g. stug-3x3.dat) the complete.zip stud.dat is still used as those files reference "stud.dat" without the leading "p/" dictating a program should first look inside the same folder as the referring part.

So my question/observation shouldn't parts inside "p/" also use "p/stud.dat" as a reference in order to maintain consistency?

EDIT: Never mind I was confusing "s/" with "p/" so there is no clean way to override them Sad

  Minecraft Utensils Orientation
Posted by: Evert-Jan Boer - 2017-03-16, 16:16 - Forum: Parts Authoring - Replies (5)

I have modelled the Minecraft Sword, Axe, Shovel and Pickaxe (from LDD data), but when looking at similar minifig utensils I see there is a great difference in orientation and origin.

I have placed the origin at the center of the handles: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=6478371

Before I submit these, any changes I would need to do to orientation and origin? Perhaps rotate the sword, axe and pickaxe 90 degrees to match the current utensils?

  LDCad 1.6 Beta 2a (win+linux)
Posted by: Roland Melkert - 2017-03-15, 22:04 - Forum: LDraw Editors and Viewers - Replies (57)

I've release Beta 2a of LDCad 1.6

It mainly fixes a potential crash related to the header dialog combined with generated parts.

To make it worth the download I've also applied some spelling fixes, (very) minor tweaks and added some new part snapping info.

And I added the 8860 example including its animation as shown here:
https://forums.ldraw.org/thread-22081.html

Do note playback at 25fps might be to slow on some older (laptop) machines .

As of this version I've taken all the older versions except the latest major ones offline, as stupid robots (I assume they are robots) keep downloading every single file on the site now and then.

If anyone really need an older non final version let me know and I put it backup of a couple of days.

Grab the new version while it's still hot from the oven Smile
