Hi all,

How many of you have seen that Sergio has a new release of SR 3D out?
How do we convince him to announce it here, at our forum, the next time?

Code:
Hi again,

a new version of my program has just been released.
It has some much requested and very interesting new features all about copy

Following is a brief of what is new.
Also I recommend you to have a look to the 4 videos to learn on how to use the
new features.

Since I don't post latest 2 updates on this forum, for the ones interested, here
is a link to the missed new features last introduced:

Enjoy building !

PS: If you installed new version and get an error starting the application,
please download and install it again (missed a dll in the package)

Proposed changes to LDraw.org Standards Committee Charter
Posted by: Orion Pobursky - 2014-03-08, 13:23 - Forum: General LDraw.org Discussion - Replies (1)

Hi all, in light of the last few voting periods I'm proposing the following changes to the LSC Charter. The SteerCo has control of this document but in the interest of community input and transparency, I'm posting my suggested changes here for discussion prior to the SteerCo voting any change.

The reference document is here: http://www.ldraw.org/article/382.html
My proposed changes are listed below:

Nominations

Rename to Election Candidates

change text to:
Candidates for the election will be:
- The currently sitting LSC
- Any person who volunteers and meets the LSC eligibility requirements
Candidates may withdraw their candidacy at any time before and during the election cycle.

Elections

change text to:
Elections will be held according the the schedule listed in the Recurring Dates section. Only LDraw organization members will vote on the candidates by privately listing the five (5) nominees they select for the position. Votes will be received and tallied by the LDraw.org Steering Commitee, who will be accountable to each other and to the community for accuracy. In the event that the pool candidates is less then or equal to the number of available positions on the LSC, no election will be held.

Inaguration

Remove this section

Recurring Dates

change text to:

October 1: Annual summary published. Call for candidates.
October 14: All petitions for candidacy must be received and recorded
October 17: LSC Elections begin
October 31: LSC Elections end
On or before November 7: LDraw.org Steering Commitee announces election results
November 15: New LSC Members take office
* The dates may flex a few days in either direction due to the personal schedules of the site admins.

LDView for Linux (4.2 beta) doesn't accept -ca and -cg
Posted by: Ingolf Weisheit - 2014-03-07, 20:39 - Forum: LDraw Editors and Viewers - Replies (3)

Hi,

I compiled LPub4 in Linux which runs fine. I render with LDView.
I used three version of LDView: a 4.2 under wine, a Linux-native 4.2 installed from the debs on sourceforge and a self-compiled Linux-native 4.2

Problems:
- with Wine-Version and Linux-natives I get different results by using the same args
- the problem seems to be the -ca and -ca arguments. Without it, both LDViews gave the same view on screen
- other arguments probably are not affected (but I didn't tested it a lot)
- the Linux-version-problem does happen both in the installed Ubuntu-deb and in a self-compiled binary

Question: are the -ca and -ca arguments in the Linux-versions inactive or is the syntax somehow different?

(there is a problem with the alpha-channel in the Wine-Version as well which prevents me from using the wine-LDView as renderer for LDPub, but this is another topic Smile

Im running it under Linux Mint Maya (pretty much a Ubuntu 12.04)

thanks for a reply and best regards, Ingolf

  Part 4070 dimensions
Posted by: Tatz - 2014-03-07, 11:41 - Forum: Help - Replies (5)

Hello all,
This is my first post to this forum, so my apologies if this is not the right spot for this question, or if it has been asked previously.

My question is about part 4070, aka the Erling or "headlight brick". The brick seems be modeled such that it "fits" in a perfect 1x1x1 stud opening, however this is not the case because the open stud on the face of the brick actually extends slightly out beyond the 1x1x1 footprint of the brick (I hope I have expressed this clearly). Needless to say, this inaccuracy in the dimensions has bitten me on more than one occasion when trying to build a model I've designed in MLCAD. As a side note, LEGO's own LDD (not a fan but I have tinkered with it in the past) - also seems to allow an adjacent brick in front of the studded facet.

Has this ever been discussed before or are there any plans to address this?

Thanks for any help!

  2014/2015 LDraw.org Steering Committee announced
Posted by: Willy Tschager - 2014-03-04, 16:55 - Forum: LDraw.org Announcements - No Replies

Since we had only 5 confirmed nominees, no election is necessary.

Therefore, the 2014/2015 LDraw.org Steering Committee [1] is:

Chris Dee
Tim Gould
Philippe Hurbain
Orion Pobursky
Willy Tschager

[1] Try not to confuse the LDraw.org Steering Committee (SteerCo) with the LDraw Standards Committee (LSC). The Steering Committee sets the course for the LDraw Organization while the Standards Committee deals with the LDraw File Format.

Congratulations to the new and a huge thank you to the outgoing members!

Willy Tschager
On behalf of the LDraw.org Steering Committee
