  6379 Riding Stable
Posted by: Stefan Frenz - 2019-11-28, 15:33 - Forum: Official Models - Replies (10)

Hi there,

my next model I'd like to contribute is 6379 Riding Stable (from 1986), it should be OMR-compliant.

Known issue: horse sticker across three bricks on roof is missing.
Done with LDCad 1.6c (Linux64).

Edit: tyres were not rubber-black, please find updated version below.

Regards
Stefan

  Technic 1988
Posted by: Stefan Frenz - 2019-11-27, 21:27 - Forum: Official Models - Replies (9)

Hi there,

this time it's the 1988's Test Car Technic model 8865. It should be OMR compliant, but there are known issues:
- Small mismatch for 16-technic-brick (3703) which connects the front frame to the roof in the last step. As far as I can see and calculate with CAD, this seems to be "desired margin" in the real build. Did I something wrong, is there a way to make it look "better matching"?
- The steering axle angles with two universal joint (2x 3712+3326b+3712) in steps 16/17 are not acceptable. I looked at the angles provided by "Selection Info" without luck - I will fix this as soon as possible and would welcome any suggestion.

Done with LDCad 1.6c (Linux64).

Thanks in advance for any improvement suggestion! Smile

Regards
Stefan

Hello,

here you can find the official press release: https://www.lego.com/de-de/aboutus/news/...-bricklink

Since the software Studio is using (kind of) LDraw parts...

  Parts search paths
Posted by: Leonardo Zide - 2019-11-25, 22:29 - Forum: Official File Specifications/Standards - Replies (9)

I was wondering if there is an official specification for parts folder priorities and limitations, I looked at the LDraw file format spec and it is somewhat vague in this area.

When loading an MPD file I search folders in this order:

- MPD subfiles
- unofficial parts folder
- unofficial p folder
- parts folder
- p folder
- MPD folder

And as for restrictions, should a file inside the MPD take priority over another file in the library (including primitives)? For example, if the MPD has a file called stud.dat, should it replace the studs in a part in the library?

It would be great to have some clarity on this to ensure consistency between applications.

  Bulk change headers in MPD
Posted by: Jaco van der Molen - 2019-11-22, 11:39 - Forum: LDraw Editors and Viewers - Replies (10)

Hi all,

What tool can help me change all headers of 200+ submodels in bulk?
I have been somewhat untidy in creating those and consequently uniform all headers.

Can LDCad do it with a script? I thought I read that somewhere.

MPDCenter can I believe but won't load my file.

Thanks.

  LeoCAD not fully loading model
Posted by: Jaco van der Molen - 2019-11-22, 8:31 - Forum: LDraw Editors and Viewers - Replies (13)

Hi all,

I have a model of 15k+ parts and 200+ submodels that does not fully load in LeoCAD. It loads submodels 1 to 24 and about 900 bricks (very fast BTW!).
This is the case on both on my Macbook and 2 Windows PC/Laptops

The model loads fine in LDCad (and MLCad for that matter).

What could be wrong?

If someone is willing to take a look I can share the model file.

Thanks.

Jaco

LDraw part 14682.dat - Hollow Exhaust Pipe
Posted by: Leonardo Gonzalez - 2019-11-21, 20:15 - Forum: Rendering Techniques - Replies (3)

Using the native LDraw parts (meaning non-LGEO) to render a model, I found out that part Exhaust Pipe with Pin and Flat Tip (14682.dat) appears to be hollow when rendered. The part itself appears to work just fine and looks normal inside LDCad and the LDViewer. It might be a matter of flipping the polygon 180º, but I don't know how to do that (yet).

Admins, please move this to a more appropriate place if needed, thanks.

  Blanks in description

Odd! I cannot find anything about the blanks in the description. I checked :

File Format 1.0.2
Official Library Header Specification
File Format Restrictions for the Official Library

I thought I knew the specs by heart!

I'd like to have the:

Next file - Prev file - Download ... bar at the single parts pages mirrored to the bottom. After I have read the recent reviews I have to scroll up the entire page to eventually download the file or do something else.
