Custom printed faces for Powerpuff Girls headpieces? - Matthew Coleman - 2021-02-06

Hey, everyone. I’m currently working on a Powerpuff Girls product idea for LEGO Ideas, except it’ll be solely based on the original 1998 TV series.

However, I’m looking for someone who can help me with replacing the face printing on Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup’s head pieces with custom 1998-style face prints.

Blossom

Bubbles

Buttercup

I will design the custom 1998-style face printing myself, so please let me know who can help me with this. Thanks!

The unpatterned surface for the face is 31512.dat. I should think you can place a PNG texture on this subpart using texmap (spherical projection, anyone?) and then place it into the main part instead of 31512pXX.dat.

Interesting! Is Texmap some sort of program?

Alright, so I've been searching everywhere for the TexMap program, and had no luck. Do you have a link to the download?

Texture mapping is part of LDraw and not a program.

Yes, and maybe have a look at these parts:

@ Jaco
Do you have any opinion or explanation regarding the colours used on those globes?

Oh, okay. But how exactly can I access LDraw's TexMap? Do you have a tutorial?

The png has a transparent background and the reddish brown is the same as the hexcode specified in ldconfig.

Not exactly, I learned to do it by trial and error and Magnus helped a great bit with the sphere / globe parts.
The information on https://www.ldraw.org/texmap-spec.html should explain how things work.

Just ask here on the forums. I am sure people can help.

Yeah, as you can now see above, there's no program—it's just generated by your editing process, whether that's by hand, or using an LDraw software editor. It's just another characteristic of the part that LDraw can describe, like its shape, color, etc.
