Script to generate random parts in LDCad
Posted by: Jaco van der Molen - 2020-01-22, 11:44 - Forum: LDraw Editors and Viewers - Replies (5)

Hi all,

For a MOC I have to simulate a kind of landscaping rough soil-like.
I am looking for a way in LDCad to make something like this with a script.

With it, you should be able to specify dimensions (in this case 8x8), what bricks to use (plates, tiles, etc.) and colors (like LBG, tan, white, ...)
Would that be possible?

  MLCad.ini 2019-03 update now available
Posted by: Willy Tschager - 2020-01-22, 10:46 - Forum: LDraw.org Announcements - No Replies

Hi folks,

I just updated the MLCad.ini file accordingly to the latest LDraw.org parts update 2019-03. The .ini file defines (among other things) the parts available in MLCad's, LEOCad's and Bricksmith's minifigure generator.

Download the file from my website: http://www.holly-wood.it/mlcad/mlcad_ini-en.html

Bye, w.

  65217 + 65209 for Set 60243
Posted by: Johann Eisner - 2020-01-20, 18:45 - Forum: Part Requests - Replies (1)

My son got this set for Christmas, so I want to draw it for the OMR.
These two parts are completely new, but don't seem to be that complicated. (Except for me ;-))
If more photos are needed, no problem.

Thanks!

Edit:
There are more new parts. Angry

But these are more complicated. :-(

  8849 - Tractor
Posted by: Stefan Frenz - 2020-01-19, 16:08 - Forum: Official Models - Replies (2)

Hi there,

next model I would like to contribute is the 8849 Tractor of 1989.
Thank you for all suggestions towards my other models. So here no "-1" for set number, all tires and hoses with rubber color...  Smile
I hope the file is OMR compliant - unfortunately I still don't get MPDCenter running on my Linux box...
As always all suggestions are warmly welcome.

Done with LDCad 1.6c (Linux64).
Known issues: none.

Best regards
Stefan

My first render with instructions almost done but without flexible parts because they still are too much for me... being big it has less than 1050 parts.

  DatHeader Error on startup
Posted by: Johann Eisner - 2020-01-17, 16:31 - Forum: Parts Author Tools - Replies (21)

Hi community

When starting the latest version from DatHeader (3.0.23), I got a error message,
Missing Catecory.txt.

.png   Missing.PNG (Size: 7.88 KB / Downloads: 162)
After confirming the dialog box, an attempt is made to download the file.
This leads to another error message.

.png   Error.PNG (Size: 7.06 KB / Downloads: 162)
After confirming this dialog box,...

.png   Hinweis.PNG (Size: 9.49 KB / Downloads: 164)

DatHeader runs that way too, but this Zenario comes every time it starts.
Thoughts or solves?

Regards Johann

  Patterned parts detail
Posted by: Orion Pobursky - 2020-01-16, 17:32 - Forum: Parts Authoring - Replies (4)

There is a minor debate on the PT regarding patterns that go "all the way to the edge" of the part. Specifically these 2 parts:
https://www.ldraw.org/cgi-bin/ptdetail.c...70bp0n.dat
https://www.ldraw.org/cgi-bin/ptdetail.cgi?f=parts/3070bp0l.dat

I have both of these part and am the author of one of them. I've looked at them and it appears the pattern does, indeed, go all the way to the curved edge. On high magification, you can see that there is a very small gap but this is negligible in my mind.

As far as I'm concerned, this is a non-issue. It's imperceptible to the end user and we have precedence for both ways. A cursory scan of part shows 8 1x2 tiles where we have patterns that abut the edge (3069bpx1, 3069bps7, 3069bpx1, 3069bps9, 3069bpf1, 3069bps4, 3069bps5, 3069bp09, 3069bp0a). I'm sure there are more examples with other part type. Whatever the part author chooses should be fine.
