Information 20551 - LEGO Minifigure, Cape Cloth, High Rounded Collar
Posted by: Matthew Coleman - 2020-04-19, 19:54 - Forum: Part Requests - Replies (6)

Hey, I would like to request this cloth minifigure collar. I've checked everywhere and could not find the file for this piece.

Part 20551 - Minifigure, Cape Cloth, High Rounded Collar

I don't exactly know how to create this part myself, but I'm open to learning!  Smile

  Concave collision detection
Posted by: K Johnson - 2020-04-18, 22:22 - Forum: LDraw Editors and Viewers - Replies (6)

Mr. Melkert

Just for some background...

I am developing a LDraw game that uses JBrickable connection data to snap to location.

I have successfully implemented connector location data for the LDraw bricks and the parts connect at the locations I need.

I am running into a problem where I would need to check for collisions between the meshes to see if the position is okay to place.

Obviously, the LDraw meshes are concave and I cannot find collision detection between two concave meshes.

For example:

This would be okay...

This wouldn't:

  New Design ID for 18675 -> 35173
Posted by: Gerald Lasser - 2020-04-17, 12:43 - Forum: Parts Authoring - Replies (1)

Seems the change of transparent material brought also a lot of changes to the design-IDs.

I had ordered a few patterned "Dish 6 x 6 Inverted - No Studs with Handle" that we used to know as 18675, however to my annoyance they sound a bit cheap if you drop them on a table compared to the old (PC) ones, but they also have a new number, 35173. BL even lists a 35191

How do we organise the printed parts?

Keep on authoring them for 18675 to get a proper overview?

I would prefer to keep them as 18675 and add a keyword for the new design-ID, at least they will then pop-up in the search.

What do you think?

How do I submit new parts?
Posted by: Wiktor Knosala - 2020-04-16, 17:28 - Forum: Part Requests - Replies (6)

I made .dat and tested it in stud.io.
How do I submit it to ldraw.org?
On the parts tracker side under "submit" it just says:

Sorry, your userid (Wiktor) must have submit privileges in order to submit files.

btw, the part I made:
Motorcycle Chassis, Snowmobile 37496

  Part 63965
Posted by: N. W. Perry - 2020-04-16, 17:20 - Forum: Parts Authoring - Replies (6)

Has anyone got a part 63965 handy and able to get some quick measurements? I think the short end of the bar combined with the stop ring should add up to 24 LDU, one full brick height. Currently it comes to 25.5 (of which 7.5 is the ring thickness and the remaining bar length is 18).

For an official usage showing this, see set 21028, step 73. The bar fits fully inside the Travis brick, flush to the top of its hollow stud (underside of the 1x1 plate), such that the 1x1 round brick can still snap on to the bottom.

  Submodel naming and organization
Posted by: Orion Pobursky - 2020-04-15, 19:41 - Forum: Official Models - Replies (12)

I'm starting to rethink my design philosophy regarding how I put together a model for the OMR. Currently I name things by step number (e.g. step45.ldr) or an appropriate noun name and step if there are multiple sections that start with step one (e.g. book1-step5.ldr). Since I've now run into multiple instruction sets where even LEGO can't keep the step numbers consistent, I'm thinking about abandoning the step numbering system and instead focus on submodeling to make positioning movable elements easier. Maybe not even include steps at all?

How does everyone else go about organizing their submodels? Do you put instruction steps in?

  Missing Thread
Posted by: Johann Eisner - 2020-04-15, 19:09 - Forum: Help - Replies (5)

I'm either stupid or too stupid.
I am quite sure that I recently replied to a topic that involved updating the unofficial parts library in LPub3D.
But I can not find the thread anywhere, even if I search in the User CP under my comments, I can not find it.
Can this be due to the downgrading of a SteerCo to a "normal" user?

Regards Johann
