  Location of complete.zip and lpub3dldrawunf.zip
Posted by: Jaco van der Molen - 2018-02-07, 9:50 - Forum: LDraw Editors and Viewers - No Replies

Hi all,

I am stuggeling a bit with the correct location for the complete.zip and lpub3dldrawunf.zip files.

I downloaded it again including the latest update, but am unsure where to put it since there are 3 locations on one PC where different versions of complete.zip are.

I know LPub3D looks at the lpub3dldrawunf.zip file, but the official complete library?

On my Windows 10 PC there are 3 locations that have complete.zip in it:

C:\Users\Public\Documents\LDraw

And
C:\Program Files (x86)\LDraw\LPub3D\data
C:\Users\[user]\AppData\Local\LPub3D Software\LPub3D\libraries

Which both have lpub3dldrawunf.zip in it too.

What would be correct? Where to put the latest complete.zip?

I ask this too because I have placed a custom unofficial part in both unoffical zips to render this part in the PLI and BOM in LPub3D but it does not show up.
Does LPub3D look for official files in the zipped library too?

The thing is I have another PC (Windows 7) which has complete.zip in

C:\Users\Public\Documents\LDraw\data

and lpub3dldrawunf.zip in C:\Users\[user]\AppData\Local\LPub3D Software\LPub3D\libraries that works perfectly.

I am confused.

broken ring primitives subsitution in LDView 4.3 ?
Posted by: Steffen - 2018-02-06, 23:35 - Forum: LDraw Editors and Viewers - Replies (2)

I just noticed that LDview 4.3 fails on properly substituting the ring primitives
at the pockets of this sticker:

http://www.ldraw.org/cgi-bin/ptdetail.cg...03497h.dat

Does this maybe have something to do with naming the ring primitives "ring" instead of "rin"?

  MLCad.ini 2018-01 update now available
Posted by: Willy Tschager - 2018-02-06, 0:46 - Forum: LDraw.org Announcements - Replies (10)

Hi folks,

I just updated the MLCad.ini file accordingly to the latest LDraw.org parts update 2018-01. The .ini file defines (among other things) the parts available in MLCad's, LEOCad's and Bricksmith's minifigure generator.

Download the file from my website: http://www.holly-wood.it/mlcad/mlcad_ini-en.html

Bye, w.

  Subsurface scattering

POV-Ray now supports subsurface scattering. Does anyone have any ideas on appropriate values? Has anyone played around with these settings before?

we need a "comments" section at the OMR
Posted by: Steffen - 2018-02-02, 21:43 - Forum: Website Suggestions/Requests/Discussion - Replies (12)

I spotted various errors in various OMR files at omr.ldraw.org.

Currently there is no way to report or correct them.

I would love if we could add (even a simple mechanism would suffice) something which allows us to correct OMR errors.

This could be
- a comments section below a displayed set which allows to add remarks
- an upload button which allows to upload a corrected version of the file
- a "parts tracker"-like mechanism which tracks OMR models and allows reviewing them
- a button to send a message to the author
- or whatever else.

Currently, I feel forced to be very passive over there, seeing all the problems, but no way to correct them.

What can be done? What do others think?

  Thumbnails by LDView
Posted by: Jaco van der Molen - 2018-02-02, 12:48 - Forum: LDraw Editors and Viewers - Replies (10)

Hi all,

When I installed LDView I configured it to generate the thumbnails in Windows Explorer.
Lately when opening folders with LDraw files Explorer crashes almost every time.
How do I stop LDView from generating thumbnails?
This is getting very annoying (sorry about that Travis ;-)

  Rename part
Posted by: Michael Horvath - 2018-02-02, 3:38 - Forum: Parts Authoring - No Replies

I think that part 3044a should be renamed from "Slope Brick 45 2 x 1 Double with Hollow Bottom" to "Slope Brick 45  2 x  1 Double without Centre Stud".

This would make it be consistent with parts 3040a, 3065, 3066, 772, etc.

Dead links in Getting Started Mac section
Posted by: Harry Bullen - 2018-01-30, 23:56 - Forum: Website Suggestions/Requests/Discussion - Replies (2)

On http://www.ldraw.org/help/getting-started/mac.html Steps 4 and 5 and help have lots of dead links

  • Step 4
    • Introduction to LDraw Utilities 404
  • Step 5
    • Download Software 404
    • Antons'POV-Ray Converter domain is for sale
  • Help
    • LDraw.org's Help Section 404
    • The email address to ask for help does not appear to exist
Hopefully this is the right spot to post to get these things fixed.  Thanks
