Form Net 8 x 16 Rectangle
Posted by: Jaco van der Molen - 2020-04-14, 14:16 - Forum: LDraw Editors and Viewers - Replies (10)

Hi all,

Would it be possible to model form this part in LDCad?

Black String, Net 8 x 16 Rectangle
https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/cat...only%22:0}

Using single strings, weave, and form.
Or the part as whole and form it like we would form any flexible part in LDCad?

Jaco

  LDraw Mobile Client
Posted by: weilkein - 2020-04-14, 11:44 - Forum: LDraw Editors and Viewers - No Replies

Currently I've been using Buf3D+ on my Google Pixel 2 XL but I was curious to know if LDraw team has any plans to release a dedicated mobile client in near future.

Installation -- Bricks Partly or Not Visible in LDCad 1.6c
Posted by: Chad Voller - 2020-04-12, 23:54 - Forum: LDraw Editors and Viewers - Replies (11)

n00b here, please excuse me if this post is in the incorrect forum. I've searched a good bit but have not found an answer.

My son is just getting to learn computers and he loves Lego, so I searched and found LDraw.
I downloaded the All in One, then installed pretty much everything on his computer.

After setting the search/library paths official location to c\users\public\documents\ldraw\parts on his machine, when using LDCad the parts are not all there. They sort of render in bits and pieces... sometimes the full part. Just talking about simple bricks.

However, following the same pattern on my computer, I'm able to see all of the parts, just fine.

I tried an uninstall / reinstall on his machine, but the problem persists.

I would be very grateful for any suggestions that could help me.

Video An introduction to digital LEGO
Posted by: Philippe Hurbain - 2020-04-12, 13:50 - Forum: General LDraw.org Discussion - Replies (2)

A great introduction to digital LEGO: Interview of Neil Marsden ("Pennyforge") by Matt Elder.

Quoting YouTube video description:
In this video interview Neil Marsden aka Pennyforge presents a primer masterclass on virtual/digital LEGO building (originally presented at London AFOLs April 2020). Neil discusses LEGO modelling, rendering and instruction creation comparing current software tools such as LEGO Digital Designer, Bricklinks Stud.io and LDCad. Other software touched upon includes Blender, MLCad, Modo, Sketchup and Maya

Neil gives an overview of taking a traditional 3D model and converting it to real LEGO via voxel data. Pennyforge also covers scripting and touches upon the opensource nature of ldraw, underpinning all this digital LEGO building. Scripting has also been used to build words and fonts out of LEGO. A discussion of machine learning is had (so if you are able to contribute, be sure to get in touch).

  Sticker Description
Posted by: Max Martin Richter - 2020-04-10, 22:10 - Forum: Parts Authoring - Replies (2)

Hej there,
while going through the stickers for reviewing them, I run in the following problem: Some stickers are described like "... on Background" and some "... on ".
I'm not sure if need the word Background in the description or not. Could we discuss how it should be done and add this to the sticker specs, please?

Information Part 14396c01 (or 14379)
Posted by: Orion Pobursky - 2020-04-09, 21:44 - Forum: Part Requests - Replies (14)

I thought I saw this already, I thought wrong. I don't have this part and can't find it on digitalbricks so don't know if it's an assembly or not. Also, I get 14396 from some sources and 14379 from others. There are 4 printed versions: 3 gingerbread people and the Clock King from collectible minifig series.

  V8 Engine
Posted by: Bojan Niceno - 2020-04-08, 11:35 - Forum: Help Wanted - Replies (2)

Dear all,

I use LDCAD to design my own models, but am stuck with the engine.  I would like to build a V8, but can't find any engine components.  Just to make sure, I am referring to the standard engine, like this one:

Anyone has an idea where they are?

    Cheers,

  LDCad 1.6d (win+linux)
Posted by: Roland Melkert - 2020-04-05, 21:50 - Forum: LDraw Editors and Viewers - Replies (12)

I've released the 1.6d version of LDCad.

Bug fixes, tweaks and some minor new features.

Highlights:
Alternative GUI templates (donated by Miguel Reizinho).
Snapping information for the 190X library and many additional (requested) parts.
Additional MLCad and technic macros
Some new (gui related options and tweaks).

See the changeLog.txt file for all changes.

I wanted to do a bit more, but decided 1.6d was long overdue.

As always the latest version is here:
http://www.melkert.net/LDCad/download

I also decided to start work on a 1.7 version even though I planned the next big version to be 2.0.

This is mainly because I have very little time to work on LDCad at the moment which means the 2.0 version won't be ready anytime soon.

But the little time I do have I wanted to work on some fun features without having to rewrite the whole 1.6 feature set first.

The current 1.7 plans include:

- More scripting.
- Interactive animation.
- Collada (blender) export.
- Snapping improvements.
- Arrow generator (maybe).

Any additional ideas are welcome at this thread:
