  Colour request
Posted by: Andy H - 2024-02-08, 22:55 - Forum: Official File Specifications/Standards - Replies (11)

Hi,

Could you please add the colour 'Reddish Orange' to the config? I think it was only available recently.

From Bricklink:
6466720 is the part and colour combination code (or ElementID) for this part in Reddish Orange colour.

How do I display Bills of Material better?
Posted by: Cam's Bricks - 2024-02-08, 21:34 - Forum: LDraw Editors and Viewers - No Replies

Hello all,

I am in need of a way to generate BOMs for models I make. I have tried (in vain mostly) to use LPub3D, LDview, and Studio and none of them quite fit what I need.

I make a lot of custom shaped hoses for detailing and use BrickArms parts and even use 3D printed parts for certain details. I can easily make LDraw files of them to use them in the instructions but when it comes time to make the BOM, I start having issues.

LPub3D just seems to break but has a nice feature in that I can "replace" a part in the part list to show a different part like chains or cut hose.

Studio doesnt display part name or number if its on an official LEGO part

LDView (via Peeron) doesnt display parts images if they do not exist in the data base of existing parts.

Another use case is that I use a single color, Sand Purple, for all of the parts that can be "any color" and that also seems to break the peeron solution.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

I had an idea to use the buildinginstructions.js to render whatever models I had but I dont know enough about js or web coding to make it work.

I built a website to generate LDraw code and render using AI!
Posted by: Bob Sterling - 2024-02-08, 18:17 - Forum: LDraw Editors and Viewers - Replies (4)

Hey All,

Over the last two weeks I have been working on a website to generate LDraw code and render it on the web using AI. I wanted to thank this community for all the resources and documentation that I needed to get it working!

The website it called https://brickgenerator.com/

It is still a total work in progress and gives less than ideal results, but sometimes is pretty clever!

How to use:
1. Enter text of what you want to generate
2. Wait a really long time lol (Working to make it faster but takes around a minute)
3. See Ldraw code and a rendered model (Unless you get an error.... oh the errors Sick )
4. Share your designs with others! Examples: Poop emoji & Donald Trump?!

Please let me know your feedback and share your designs so I can see the issues or the cool things you can generate!

Also, if you feel so inclined to upvote me on product hunt, it would be greatly appreciated!

  Modeling of stud cut-outs
Posted by: Gerald Lasser - 2024-02-07, 22:51 - Forum: Parts Authoring - Replies (2)

since quite some time, the stud cut outs are not really squarish, respectibly rectagular anymore, but more or less rounded. This is also  reflected in the raw parts data, see the dune-windscreen 5142:

What's the best way to model them? What we want to achieve?

- Rounded Corners (realism)
- Trapezoid Cutout (simple, but looking clode to the real thing)
- Rectangular (not reflecting the real part)

Opinions?

  Animal minifigure heads list
Posted by: Richard - 2024-02-07, 16:20 - Forum: Part Requests - Replies (20)

Not sure how doable these are. But for example the trex head from the minifigure line was made so collected a list of many of the animal parts. If you make a piece make sure to check it does not exist since this long list.

Hello,

I'd like to submit a request for part 20952pb02a, described on BrickLink as Brick, Round 1 1/2 x 1 1/2 x 2/3 Dome Top with Porg Head, V-Shaped between Eyes Pattern.

I've attached a BrickLink image for reference. If it helps, here's a link to the BrickLink page.
