  MLCad.ini 2018-02 update now available
Posted by: Willy Tschager - 2018-12-27, 10:22 - Forum: LDraw.org Announcements - No Replies

Hi folks,

I just updated the MLCad.ini file accordingly to the latest LDraw.org parts update 2018-02. The .ini file defines (among other things) the parts available in MLCad's, LEOCad's and Bricksmith's minifigure generator.

Download the file from my website: http://www.holly-wood.it/mlcad/mlcad_ini-en.html

Bye, w.

  Parts Tracker and BFC NOCLIP
Posted by: Gerald Lasser - 2018-12-26, 15:01 - Forum: Website Suggestions/Requests/Discussion - Replies (7)

I tried to submit files that contain the following syntax in the header:

0 BFC CERTIFY CCW

0 BFC NOCLIP

The PT does not accept such files anymore, although IMHO this is an allowed combination of commands, isn't it?

thanks

Authoring Stickers - primitives or quads/triangles
Posted by: David Manley - 2018-12-24, 8:28 - Forum: Parts Authoring - Replies (2)

I've begun to dip my toe into authoring parts. I've submitted a couple of stickers since they appear to be an easier place to start than a physical part. I'm in the process of authoring a round sticker and I'm seeking some guidance/recommendations to try to make the review process easier for whomever reviews my future submissions.

The image below shows the sticker within LD Pattern Creator. The colours do not match the sticker's true colours but have been set for the purpose of this discussion. At the moment, the green triangles are defined using a 2-4disc primitive.

The things I am seeking guidance on are;
1) is it better to use primitives in stickers rather than an equivalent specification of triangle/quad line types?
2) if so, (and primarily for my education) is there any technical advantage in doing so other than a smaller resulting part file?

Thank you.

Regards,

David

  OMR File Header
Posted by: Johann Eisner - 2018-12-22, 11:45 - Forum: Official File Specifications/Standards - Replies (12)

Hello Everyone

After reading the OMR file Specification the nineteeth time, I am a little confused:
Under File Header is this written:

File Headers

Each individual model file in the MPD that does not represent an unofficial part must have the following standard header format.
Standard Header:

Code:
0 FILE <Filename>.ldr
0 <Individual filename>
0 Name: <Filename>.ldr
0 Author: <Author Name> [Username]
0 !LDRAW_ORG Model -OR- 0 !LDRAW_ORG Unofficial_Model
0 !LICENSE Redistributable under CCAL version 2.0 : see CAreadme.txt

and under OMR example this:

OMR Example
Code:
0 FILE 6712 - Main.ldr
0 Main
0 Name: 6712 - Main.ldr
0 Author: Willy Tschager [Holly-Wood]
0 !LICENSE Redistributable under CCAL version 2.0 : see CAreadme.txt

Now the question:
Ist the line "0 !LDRAW_ORG Model -OR- 0 !LDRAW_ORG Unofficial_Model" nessacery or not?

Johann
