  broken link on parts tracker
Posted by: Steffen - 2018-04-02, 11:26 - Forum: Website Suggestions/Requests/Discussion - No Replies

on each parts tracker page, there is a footer saying

"The LDraw Parts Tracker is maintained and developed by voluntary members of the LDraw organisation."

However, by clicking on "the LDraw organisation", you get an error 404.

Suggestion: correct that link to let it point to

https://wiki.ldraw.org/wiki/LDraw.org

https vs http: broken image in LDRAW Wiki
Posted by: Steffen - 2018-04-02, 10:57 - Forum: Website Suggestions/Requests/Discussion - Replies (5)

in the LDRAW wiki, the image "Construction worker.png" appears broken when accessing the page

https://wiki.ldraw.org/index.php?title=BlueBrick

via https. When using http, the image looks fine:

http://wiki.ldraw.org/index.php?title=BlueBrick

To cure this, I suggest that we end the dual presence of both http and https this way:
* make https the default
* make any access to a http address a forwarding to its https counterpart

  LDRAW Wiki URLs
Posted by: Steffen - 2018-04-02, 9:56 - Forum: Website Suggestions/Requests/Discussion - Replies (2)

The LDRAW Wiki URLs are somewhat ugly, here is an example:

http://wiki.ldraw.org/index.php?title=BFC

Much nicer would be the syntax

http://wiki.ldraw.org/wiki/BFC

Wikipedia does it the same way, see for example

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LDraw

This can be achieved by some simple adjustments on the MediaWiki server, see here the official documentation:

https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:Short_URL

Can we get this "beautification" for our LDRAW Wiki?

  54389
Posted by: Santeri Piippo - 2018-03-31, 19:58 - Forum: Parts Tracker Discussion - Replies (4)

Hi,

I've set off to model this part: 54389. The complete assembly contains two orange pieces (54359 and 54360), a preinstalled 3V CR927 lithium battery, a LED bulb and a tiny, malleable bed for the LED.

I'm curious about:

  • is the assembly really 54389?
  • what other numbers, if any, are involved?
  • should the battery be modeled since the assembly comes with one preinstalled? (edit: looks like we already have the AA battery as u9284.dat)

Image link (battery not pictured):

Did someone notice like me that the parts tracker CLOCK is off by some 20 minutes by now?

That clock needs a fix...

  Blender LDraw import tool
Posted by: Merlijn Wissink - 2018-03-31, 7:59 - Forum: LDraw File Processing and Conversion - Replies (29)

I just came across this Blender LDraw importer on Github: https://github.com/TobyLobster/ImportLDraw

I didn't know that one existed, I only knew of another one that only supported ldr files (and hasn't been updated in a while). This one however, supports dat, ldr and mpd files and seems to be relatively active too. It also has two modes: realistic and 'instruction style', which is a nice plus too.

I'm by far not a Blender expert, but I very quickly tried it on a small mpd file and the realistic mode produces quite a nice image without any tinkering (I just imported the model and pressed render). It's by far not as realistic as those Blender renders from Mecabricks, but pretty nice nonetheless  Smile

And just to make it extra clear: I'm not the author of this tool, just figured I'd share it here because I hadn't seen it here before (correct me if I'm wrong).

  Newbie question
Posted by: Felipe Copaja - 2018-03-31, 0:00 - Forum: Part Requests - Replies (3)

Hi, I'm an adult Lego fan, just downloaded Bricksmith aiming to start saving simple models for my kids.
I also downloaded the latest ldraw library (jan'18)
I bought set 21030 recently and would like to use only its parts. However, the part names in the instruction manual do not match those of the library.
For example, a standard 2x4 white plate has number 302001, 3020 in library. Or 1x4 studded white fence, 6047813 vs 15332 in library
Am I doing something wrong? is it possible to match up parts?
Regards,

Felipe

Question Nexo Knights shields
Posted by: Johann Eisner - 2018-03-27, 16:43 - Forum: Parts Authoring - Replies (4)

Hi guys

I begin to creat this shield -->
https://forums.ldraw.org/thread-7354-pos...l#pid28341

Now I read here --->
http://www.ldraw.org/cgi-bin/ptdetail.cg...385pe0.dat

the disscussion about the barcode on the shield.
Now the question: Should I draw the shield now with or without the code?

Since I have created a template for the edge and the part in LDPC, because I want to draw more shields, it's not a problem either with or without code.

Regards
Johann
