I'm aware that currently making custom flexible parts is near impossible, really all I need is the claw itself. Thank you in advance!

  MLCad.ini 2025-01 update now available
Posted by: Willy Tschager - 2025-02-03, 15:09 - Forum: LDraw.org Announcements - No Replies

Hi folks,

I just updated the MLCad.ini file accordingly to the latest LDraw.org parts update 2025-01. The .ini file defines (among other things) the parts available in MLCad's, LEOCad's and Bricksmith's minifigure generator.

Download the file from my website: http://www.holly-wood.it/mlcad/mlcad_ini-en.html

Bye, w.

  Torso 973ph8 might not exist
Posted by: Chris Böhnke - 2025-02-02, 19:35 - Forum: Parts Tracker Discussion - Replies (1)

Does this file have a real counterpart?

https://library.ldraw.org/parts/14619

Currently we have 4 versions of basically the same print in the database:

Grey/Yellow Neck (973ph5 - https://library.ldraw.org/parts/14616)
Grey/Light Nougat Neck (973ph7 - https://library.ldraw.org/parts/14618)
Dark Red/Yellow Neck (973ph8 - https://library.ldraw.org/parts/14619)
Dark Red/Light Nougat Neck (973ph6 - https://library.ldraw.org/parts/14617)

Bricklink lists 3 of them:
973pb0314 (Red/Nougat) - https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/cat...D#T=C&C=85
973px152 (Grey/Yellow)  - https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/cat...5D#T=C&C=7
973pb0313 (Grey/Nougat) - https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/cat...5D#T=C&C=7

However I could not find any hint at the Red/Yellow version existing (not even as a misprint).

Unfortunately all 4 files only state "Harry Potter" as keyword. No sets or BL reference.

Does anyone know if this was actually produced and where it appeared?

  Lighting a night time scene in POVRay.
Posted by: Max Hughes - 2025-02-01, 22:20 - Forum: Rendering Techniques - Replies (12)

Hello, fellow AFOLs and LDrawers.

I would like to ask for some advice, please.

I wish to render some of my LDraw models in a night setting. In other words, they will be in darkness (or near darkness), but I would like light to appear to come from inside the model. Think lights coming from the window of a house and illuminating the street.

My usual method is to model in LDCAD and use its export feature to generate a .pov file, which I then render using POVRay. I have been learning how to edit the .pov file to alter the lighting, change the floor etc. I tried to place a lightsource inside the scene, but this is clearly the wrong way to do it. Can anyone offer advice on how to achieve what I am trying to do?

Apologies if this topic has already been covered elsewhere.

Many thanks,

Max

  Motor Pull Back 4 x 9 x 2.333
Posted by: Willy Tschager - 2025-02-01, 11:52 - Forum: Parts Authoring - Replies (2)

There are currently two motors at the bottom of the PT seeking a solution:

https://library.ldraw.org/parts/24516
https://library.ldraw.org/parts/24517

These are fixes to already official parts. The current state is a following:

According to Brickset the LEGO Design number for these motors is 76098

https://brickset.com/parts/design-76098

I propose the following:

* Hide the top/bottom assemblies 32282c01.dat, 32282c02.dat, 32282c03.dat

* Move 32283c01.dat to 76098ap01
* Move u9062c01.dat to 76098bp01
* Move u9062c01.dat to 76098bp02

* As Magnus suggested, add a HELP to the complete assembly saying:
"Inline this part, to make the adjustable part movable."

Thoughts?

w.
