  Value of colours in LDconfig.ldr
Posted by: Manfred Schaefer - 2022-05-19, 20:10 - Forum: LDraw File Processing and Conversion - Replies (9)

Hello,

I would like to know how the values for the colors were determined.
I have noticed differences between the values in the LDConfig.ldr file and the values on Ryan Howerter's page.

The value for black is different

Value for black: Ryan Howerter's $000000,     LDConfig $1B2A34

Also the values of the milky colors

                                                           LDConfig                      Ryan Howerter

Lego-ID       Lego name            LDraw ID     Value               LDraw ID        Value

50           Phosphorent White         294         $BDC6AD             50             $E5DFD3
294         Phosphorent Green        21           $E0FFB0               294           $D5DC8A
329         White Glow                     329         $F5F307                329           $F5F307

There are also discrepancies in the mapping of the LDraw ID to the Lego color numbers in both sources. Sad

Manfred

  3DNs and U numbers
Posted by: Orion Pobursky - 2022-05-19, 18:36 - Forum: Parts Tracker Discussion - Replies (1)

I've moved the official 3DN and U number tracker to Google Sheets. This will make it easier for me to edit and for people to track what numbers are assigned to them.

Note: The Release column is not up to date. I will be working on this shortly.

Form Technic Axle Flexible with liftarms
Posted by: Jaco van der Molen - 2022-05-17, 13:07 - Forum: LDraw Editors and Viewers - Replies (17)

Hi all,

Would there be a way to achieve the following:

I have 2 Technic Flexible Axles connected by a few 3 long liftarms.
The flexible axle is then formed / curved.
I'd like to position the liftarms like in the attached image below.

I have now rotated and placed the liftarms manyally and visually, but was wondering if one could position the liftarms along the path of axle to be more precize?
And thus be able to bent the axles in a more complex way while still moving and placing the liftarms accordingly too.

Thanks.

Jaco

  LDraw Boxer problem
Posted by: Lenny - 2022-05-15, 18:01 - Forum: LDraw File Processing and Conversion - No Replies

Has anybody used that program? Exe file from https://sourceforge.net/projects/ldrawboxer is marked as infected by VirusTotal engines. I found also https://github.com/Jeremy1980/LDBoxer from this forum's user, but scanning provide even worse result...

  LDCad 1.7 Alpha 2 (win+linux)
Posted by: Roland Melkert - 2022-05-14, 0:05 - Forum: LDraw Editors and Viewers - Replies (40)

Hello all,

It took more time than planned (again) but I finally managed to finish LDCad 1.7 Alpha 2.

It has stacks of tweaks and a couple of stability bug fixes.

For this version I concentrated mostly on animation and scripting by introducing interactive animations.

The new example model includes such an animation.

Some of the new things:
- Interactive animations.
- Part count down in 'basic' groups (only for items with a set count property).
- Improved part texture handing (incl reloading if changed externally).
- !HELP indication in the part bin.
- More flexible grid rotation stepping.
- 2D view exports.
- Improved the glTF export.
- Many many small tweaks/extensions/changes/etc. See changeLog.txt for the full list.

This is an Alpha and not a Beta because I rewrote some of the low level code, namely: threading, string/number conversions and the pos/ori property dialog.

I would like these changes thoroughly tested before exposing new users to it.

So be sure to make backups of your work before changing them with this Alpha version.

The new version can be downloaded here:

Set 8829 Dune Blaster - an angles solution
Posted by: David Manley - 2022-05-13, 23:08 - Forum: LDraw Editors and Viewers - No Replies

So in my rotation scripts thread, a question was posed by Max about a solution for the 8829 Dune Buggy angles.

"Surely that can't be too hard to work out", I thought. Wrong. But after much head scratching, here is an answer.

From this:

to this:

As text, just in case the pictures ever disappear:
Rotation #1 : -59.04724727
Rotation #2 : -24.96201002
Rotation #3 : 6.85530348
Rotation #4 : -41.87591725
Rotation #5 : 21.22480431

Max, please try it and let me know if if provides you with the desired answer.

Regards,

David

  Changing model quality
Posted by: Lenny - 2022-05-13, 3:49 - Forum: LDraw Editors and Viewers - Replies (2)

Hi!

Like in subject: is there a way to change the model quality in LDCad?

I would like to get lower level of quality. I mean not rendering quality in program, but the whole model and ldr file. I not certain what determines the size of mpd files (this is ldr file after "packing" with LDrawLoader in Three JS) and I try to find a method to decrease the file's size and usage of CPU and memory. Of course I also asked similar question on Three JS forums.

  Studs - with VS without
Posted by: Lenny - 2022-05-12, 5:48 - Forum: LDraw File Processing and Conversion - Replies (2)

Hi!

I'm using ldr files in Three JS (LdrawLoader) and I would like to make model "lighter".

Plates with studs VS plates without studs (inside models/walls) - can I spare some memory this way? (maybe if i replace 100 plates) I'm not certain whether it is worth to spend time for replacing plates in models.

(BTW: Is there a "replace" method/function in LDCad? Without it I will have to do it manually...)

I also tried to use bigger pannels instead of stacked bricks as walls.

Maybe there are another techniques?

(I heard about Ldraw Boxer (from sourceforge), but archive file contains only dat files, no exe program)

bbcode size respected in editor but not viewer
Posted by: Travis Cobbs - 2022-05-11, 21:00 - Forum: Website Suggestions/Requests/Discussion - Replies (1)

I just noticed that if you insert a size tag in source mode in the editor here on the forums, then switch back out of source mode, the size tag is respected inside the editor, but ignored in preview mode, and in the forum itself. For example, below is some size 24 text:

size=24

I can appreciate not wanting people to be able to have big text in their posts, but ideally the editor would also ignore the size tag. Just reply to this message to see what I'm talking about, since my quoted text in your reply show up big in the editor. (You can abandon the reply.)
