1.8.58 Released (bugfixes, keys for view rotation axis lock)
Posted by: Nils Schmidt - 2022-07-02, 14:14 - Forum: Parts Author Tools - Replies (6)

Hey,

this is mostly a small bugfix release, but it includes also a shortkey binding to rotate the view around a fixed axis with the mouse.

As always, you can download LDPE from this page:

http://nilsschmidt1337.github.io/ldparteditor/

Changelog:

(1 new feature and 3 bug fixes)

With this release you will be able to...

  • ...press and hold shortkeys to rotate the view around a fixed axis with the mouse (snapping to angles, with Shift, Ctrl and Alt).

The following critical issues were fixed:

  1. The check for BFC-Meta command was not strict enough (it allowed prefix lines like "0 BFC CERTIFY CCWxyz").
  2. !HISTORY meta command: Removed the [4.0] tag in favor of a fixed implementation date.
  3. Added missing buttons on the UI for area expansion / missing buttons on "Find+Replace" dialog.

The program was tested intensively with "real world" files.
However, something can go wrong in about 140.000 lines of code.

Installation on Windows:

  1. Download and extract LDPartEditor_win32_x64.zip
  2. Run LDPartEditor-1.8.58.msi
  3. Start LDPartEditor from the start menu
Installation on Linux:

  1. Download and extract LDPartEditor_linux_x64.zip
  2. Install ldparteditor_1.8.58-1_amd64.deb
  3. Start LDPartEditor from the menu or via launcher
Installation on Mac OS X:

  1. Download and extract LDPartEditor_mac_x64.zip
  2. Mount LDPartEditor-1.8.58.dmg
  3. Drag LDPartEditor.app to the Applications folder
  4. Copy ldparteditor.sh to your home folder
        4a. Open a Terminal.app and run ./ldparteditor.sh
        4b. Or open a Terminal.app and run /Applications/LDPartEditor.app/Contents/MacOS/LDPartEditor

I listen carefully to your requests and possible complaints. Please leave me a message, with your thoughts and wishes to further improve the software.

LDPE is a 3D CAD application: The overall system requirements are higher. While I recommend to use a powerful 64-bit multicore system, it could be possible, to run LDPE on older machines as well.

System Requirements:

Minimum System Requirements:
  • OpenGL 2.1 compatible Graphics Card
  • Operating System (64-bit): Windows [7 or newer], Linux [e.g. Ubuntu Linux >=14.4], Mac OS X [>=10.6]
  • CPU: Multicore-Processor e.g. Intel Core 2 Duo or AMD Athlon II (>2.0Ghz)
  • RAM: 4GB
  • Video-Memory: 1 GB
  • Free Disk Space: 100 MB
Recommended Requirements:
  • Operating System (64bit): Windows 7,8,10, Linux [e.g. Ubuntu Linux >=14.4], Mac OS X [>=10.6]
  • OpenGL 3.3 compatible Graphics Card
  • CPU: Multicore-Processor with 4 cores (or more)
  • RAM: >4 GB
  • Video-Memory: >1 GB
  • Free Disk Space: 512 MB
  • For a faster start, LDPartEditor and the LDraw™ library should be installed on an SSD.

  Sticker 192685i for 1581-1
Posted by: Rene Rechthaler - 2022-07-02, 12:21 - Forum: Part Requests - Replies (12)

Can someone help me with Sticker 192685i for 1581-1 (Silja Lines Ferry)

Unfortunately I dont have Set or Sticker (both quite rare), but the Logo exists as SVG:
https://fi.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tiedosto:S...n_logo.svg
For the general size, there is a Bricklink-Seller who sells the nearly empty sheet, shall we ask there how big this sticker is?
https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/cat...only%22:0}
For the digital version, maxbe we should check if the other Ferries (1580-2, 1554-1) with a very similar sticker actually have the same sticker...
The newest ferry 1998-1 has a similar sticker, but blue and separated.

  Part header correction requests
Posted by: Orion Pobursky - 2022-07-01, 23:02 - Forum: Parts Tracker Discussion - No Replies

Correcting part headers in official parts (description, category, and keywords) is easy but labor intensive. I hope to ease this problem in the future. In the meantime, it would help me immensely if when you identify these problems if you could send me an archive of the files with corrections (and a history line) in addition to the usual text summary.

Thanks for your understanding.

Part 61806 Bionicle Claw Small with Axle Hole
Posted by: Lucas Gordon - 2022-07-01, 16:57 - Forum: Part Requests - Replies (1)

I would like to request part 61806 Bionicle Claw Small with Axle Hole. It does not seem to exist anywhere as a 3D model. Only in 8 sets, but it seems a fairly useful detailing part for contraction figures.

Thanks.

Part 53548 (alt number 57475) Toa Inika Lower Leg
Posted by: Lucas Gordon - 2022-07-01, 16:29 - Forum: Part Requests - Replies (1)

Hello.
Can somebody please make the lower leg part of the Toa Inika sets? I know it is a bit more complex than a lot of other parts, but as is the nature of many Bionicle parts. It was used in 18 sets plus one additional set as a marbled part so I think there might be a decent number of other people who want it. It, unfortunately, doesn't seem to exist anywhere.

Thanks

  LDStructure and LDFind don't work

Encountered a problem with both LDStructure and LDFind not being able to build the database and freezing at 5040 entries. Does anyone know why this happens or how to fix it?

I am animating a maker activities to create toys for disable children.

I found this part on rebrickable but no DAT file exist as of yet.

I would love to have this piece to be able to 3D print.

The part # is 970e11
https://rebrickable.com/parts/970e11/spr...-and-hips/

I have no clue how to model this

Would anybody be kind to do so???

  Inverted Plate or Tile
Posted by: Orion Pobursky - 2022-06-27, 19:06 - Forum: Parts Tracker Discussion - Replies (10)

Relevant parts:
https://www.ldraw.org/cgi-bin/ptdetail.c.../83496.dat
http://www.ldraw.org/parts/official-part...rtid=11203
https://www.ldraw.org/parts/official-par...rtid=35459

There's inconsistency in the library between plate or tile on the description of these parts. Our general rule would say use "Plate" since the studs are up. Everyone else, including LEGO, calls these Tiles.

In this case think we should use Tile as it more aligns with usage and the community.

  Stickers across multiple parts (STAMPs)
Posted by: Orion Pobursky - 2022-06-27, 18:57 - Forum: Parts Tracker Discussion - Replies (7)

Relevant part:
https://www.ldraw.org/cgi-bin/ptdetail.c...84ad01.dat

I think we have a gap in our spec. STAMP shortcuts are not allowed per the spec but placement of this sticker on a model is a nontrivial endeavor without a weird origin.

I see 2 solutions:
- Allow STAMP shortcuts
- Allow cases where the sticker may extend past the edge of the single part used.

I think the latter is the least complex and "better" solution.
