this thread is a Very Good Idea ™
Re: Parts we are working on (74188)
#3
I think, that this part isn't in our library (or I'm not able to find it).

This is the magnetbrick for the minifigs.
The underside is ready. At the moment I'm working on the main part.
Do you have any ideas how to model the "torx-screw" ?

Estimated time for upload to the PT: late end of 2012.

Yes, AFAIK it's missing.

Other screw are modelled as simple cylinder without thread. I think we should go on this way, adding threads is pure waste of resources (work-wise and facet-wise).
Re: Parts we are working on (10051)

Working on it, based on Rolf's mesh.
Re: I'm working om 4480c01 (Old MC)
#6
I am working on a replacement for this MC.
It's already on the PT, but needs a rewrite. See this thread too.
The main structure is finished and I'm now working on the hidden connector between body and fork.
I hope to be finished within a month.

Edit: This part is now done and uploaded at PT as 4480c01.dat

Great! I have waited so long and did not get it right myself. Thanks!

Edit:
I just digged what I have so far. Maybe also 42941 can be done Smile

Re: Parts we are working on

I can not find a part with that number! Where is this number from?
Re: Parts we are working on
#16
It comes from here:

Re: Parts we are working on
#17
At the moment it's not possible do do this part, cause there are no informations about it in the internet. 2 or 3 pictures but I can't see any dimensions on them.
Sorry...(but I still try to find such a part in the real world)

Re: Parts we are working on (2426)

I got such a brick today. And I hope, that I find the time to rework it asap.
It is very hard to open. I have no idea how to disassemble it for the moment.
It's opened now. But is very hard damaged at some areas now. This will be the first part I have to throw away without building it into at least one model...

Any photo of stud side?
Re: 30113 - Minifig Accessory Helmet Horned

I'll check before I upload. That's peanuts compared to the millions of cond. lines this part comes.

Not sure to understand - do you intend to submit it, or do you want someone to work on it?
Re: 30113 - Minifig Accessory Helmet Horned

Well this is the "Parts we are working on" thread. So, yes, I'm cleaning it.

2349 and other hinges...
#25
While doing the BFC'ing for 2348a.dat, I checked the parts 2348b.dat and 2349.dat. In my opinion they need to be a bit improved. I'm now working on 2349.dat. (2348a and b are ready and will go out with all other involved parts). I think, I will add the bumps for the hinges. That means that I need to do the other hinges as well...Whohoo Wink

I've forgotten how satisfying it feels to get something like those saw blades modeled..
EDIT: done
A new pattern for 2454ps5
#27
Is this any better?

I have here attached an attempt to improve the pattern for 2454ps5.

Do you think it is better or worse than the current part at PT?

Re: A new pattern for 2454ps5
#28
I hope that is not a real question Smile
This one is IMHO much better.
Re: A new pattern for 2454ps5
#29
The pattern distorts when viewed further away.. maybe direct colors would do better here?
Re: A new pattern for 2454ps5
#30
Much better, I agree! Must have been pretty tedious Wink
How did you mapped the gradient on the character?
Re: A new pattern for 2454ps5
#31
I've created the new pattern with LPC, of course.
I first made one mask of the unpatterned surface surrounding the pattern.
On top of that, or maybe behind it, I placed many differently stretched versions of a triangular raster pattern.
By selecting overlapping triangles and using the "SCG Intersection points" I got a set of new vertices.
I then connected these new vertices with "Merge with nearest triangle" and removed the unwanted triangles.
Many triangles it is....

Nice now, the pattern is. Excellent piece of work, done, you have.

So now that my vbo renderer's actually functional I'm back to doing shields to test it...

So I spend an hour trying to model 41659's little recesses, and I just finally got them done in a clean manner. And then I realize there's two more similar recesses on the other side of the part. D'oh.
Re: Parts we are working on

I'm working on this strange hinge thingy, as seen in this review at the New Elementary.
