So I'll say that this model would have been incredibly frustrating without LDCad. The set bin and flexible part functionally make this build enjoyable. Also, don't import this model directly into Studio. I had to separate the flex object files into their own custom parts for it to load correctly.

I also authored my first new part in years. Another bit of awesomeness sparked by this set.
The real life build of this set was very enjoyable as well.
All in all one of the better Architecture set out there.

You are right, they do look strange also when the model is build "legally" (left). I did not like it this way, so I move the clips a bit which makes it look much more like the real thing (right) If TLG would have used a flexible hose, you could bend it to fit. I am missing the Al Muntaha restaurant, a horizontal bar looking towards the sea and I would have preferred the Emirates towers also a bit darker, LGB.
But overall, I like the model, nice building techniques, especially on the Burj Al Arab.
21003 - Seattle Space Needle
This is an alternate version using LDCad flexible elements, optimized for rendering in Studio. The flexible elements are as close to the correct length as I could get (133mm according to instructions, 133.11mm here).
Because this model already appears in the OMR, no attempt at OMR compliance was made.

In case anyone's curious, the Lego (or at least LDraw) version of this tower tilts at an angle of 5.39753 degrees, close to the real tower's historical maximum of 5.5 degrees, but rather more than its current tilt of just under 4 degrees.

This is an alternate version with the flex axles adapted for correct photoreal rendering in Studio. (I have opted for the corresponding "flat silver" rubber color on the axles.) EDIT: On further investigation, that may not be the right choice. The real part has a distinct sheen that's not well represented by the rubber color, at least in this renderer. I will update the file to revert to color 179.
OMR compliant: Yes, with all unofficial donor parts inlined. (The image shows the alternate French nameplate; in the model, the English version is used.)
Done with LDCad 1.6c, rendered in Studio 2.1.3 (4)

By the way, what's the general feeling about submitting our own versions of models that already appear in the OMR? Is there any interest in having multiple versions, or is it intended to only hold a single copy of each official model?
I've been going through and building the entire Architecture theme myself, just because I like to. I don't mind sharing what I've built, but I'm also just as happy not to bother OMRizing them if there's no need.

So with that done, if I'm not mistaken, the only gap in the OMR is 21044 Paris, and the last part needed to complete the theme is the curved windscreen for the Eiffel Tower? I think that would call for a celebration!

I don't think so. We're all caught up with the nameplates, looks like you finished up what was missing from Tokyo…and everything from Trafalgar Square got done as well (but we're waiting on a new color for two of those parts).
I'll have the Paris model done before long, at least without the arches under the Eiffel Tower. :-( (I don't know why they couldn't just keep the flex axles instead…)
