  Stud.io click functionality

Hopefully this is the correct section of the forum for this.

I have downloaded the unofficial file parts/51698.dat Duplo, Plate 3 x 4 x 2 1/3 Rampart Item No: 51698

Using it in Bricklink Studio I don't seem to be able to click any other item to it. Sorry if I am doing something wrong as I am a new user.

[LDPatternCreator] Release 1.7.7 (new !LICENSE metas / undo+redo buttons)
Posted by: Nils Schmidt - 2024-09-15, 12:57 - Forum: Parts Author Tools - Replies (1)

Hey,

this version just improves two little things (it supports the new CC BY 4.0 agreement now).

Download and install the latest LDPatternCreator release directly from sourceforge.net.
Any previous version should be uninstalled first. Your program configuration will be preserved.

Change log:

New features:

  • Additional buttons for "Undo" / "Redo".
  • Upgraded the "!LICENSE" meta command to support the new CC BY 4.0 agreement.

As always, I included a short readme.htm in the installation directory.

Cheers & Leg Godt

Nils

  Advanced rendering techniques

Hallo,

My project aims to create highly realistic visualizations that can compete with professional advertising graphics and must look as natural as possible. How can I achieve realistic lighting effects in LDraw models?

  Duplo Parts
Posted by: Lawford - 2024-09-11, 17:25 - Forum: Help - Replies (2)

I am trying to build several models in Bricklink Studio which says that the program uses parts from LDraw Library. Though searching for Duplo in the main menu only comes up with one hit the ball 41250.
Why don't the official Duplo parts in LDraw not show up in the main menu, part 22881.dat for example.
Shame there is still so little Duplo avaliable but a big thank you everyone that has made parts avaliable. It would be nice to be able to complete a model one day ;-)

  Reworking the Competition Cannon/Arrow Combos
Posted by: Gerald Lasser - 2024-09-09, 21:20 - Forum: Parts Authoring - Replies (12)

I thouched an oldtimer again, and well, it turned out to be a more intricate topic agian to make these part fit and update them to their real geometry and assembly.

The input comes from BL, RB and my own parts, it is noteworthy to say that there are cannons existing, that are not listed as RB or BL.

CANNONs:
1st Gen: 32074c01, round front cover, long trigger
2nd Gen: 57796, round front cover with flat bottom, long trigger
3rd Gen: 57796, round front cover with flat bottom, smaller trigger

-> RB and BL do not diffferentiate between 2nd and 3rd Gen although RB useds pictures of both, listing them as one.
-> the 2nd Gen trigger axle does not fit into the technic grid vertically
-> an arrow in a 2nd and 3rd Gen cannon does not fit the technic grid vertically.

AMMO:
- 32133a (BL) / 76110 (LDraw) Arrow with Round rubber tip and Liftarm shaft
- 32133bc01 (BL) / n.a. (LDraw) Arrow with Round rubber tip and solid shaft
- 32133bc02 (BL) / n.a. (LDraw) Arrow with Galidor Shield tip and solid shaft
- 57028 Open Rubber End and Liftarm Shaft

To dos will follow:
- Update details of the arrows
- common subfile for 57028 and 76110
- Change the cutout at the this common subfile (this affects geometry of official files)
- Add a grove to 57029
- move the axle in the trigger to fit into the grid
-  Fix the cover and clips for the 1st Gen cannon

Complete rework of parts and further questions
Posted by: Manfred Schaefer - 2024-09-08, 17:48 - Forum: Parts Authoring - Replies (28)

Hello,

I have uploaded some official parts to the Parts Tracker. I had added references and set numbers to these parts. Some more will follow.
However, errors were discovered in some parts during the release. Or for other parts I changed BFC from CW to CCW and additionally these parts are certified to CC 2.0.
The point now is that I want to revise these parts so that they can leave the Parts Tracker again and I am at the beginning of this process.
It will be a long way for me, but probably also a long thread, as I have many questions and many more will come. Smile
If one or the other question seems too trivial or is clear to you, then I ask for your understanding. Sometimes it can also be a comprehension problem on my part, as English is not my native language.

Now to the first point. If a part is also licensed under CC 2.0, then this part must be rewritten from scratch. I will call this part description code. Willy wrote me that no line of code may be taken over.
This is very difficult or even impossible. If, for example, primitives were used or subfiles were used, then it is necessary to use them again.
Can a statement be made here about how big the difference must be, or how much code may be the same, preferably as a percentage, so that the new part counts as a new part with a new author?
The primitives and subfiles could be dispensed with by writing them as individual lines of code and then releasing the part. This makes it a new part with a new author, after which the primitives and subfiles are reinserted and released again. Would such a way be conceivable?
At the pattern, the values for the triangles and squares may vary slightly in the decimal places.

Further questions will follow.
Thank you.

Greetings

Manfred

  Rework of part 4485
Posted by: Chris Böhnke - 2024-09-08, 15:50 - Forum: Parts Authoring - Replies (9)

Hello,

I wanted to do the patterned versions of the old minifig baseball cap (part 4485), so I looked into the official file to see how it could be sub-filed.

While doing this, I discovered a slight difference to the real part regarding the angle of the bill and a few proportion issues. The LDD version seems to be somewhat closer to the real part:

Do you think this part should be entirely reworked or should I just try to sub-file the old version for the patterns?

I already did a simple clean-up of the LDD part, however there are still a few issues with the stud connector and the question if the top part can or should be replaced with a sphere primitive (it connects to a lot of non-primitive areas so it will probably look odd in some resolutions).
