Thumbs Up Challenging Pieces: 2557c03 and 2559c03
Posted by: Bela - 2021-12-08, 9:42 - Forum: Part Requests - Replies (2)

Hi Everyone!

First time posting! Was only lurking until now and once working with stud.io, i realized the complexity of 3D Modeling.
I have no skills in 3D Modeling at all by myself, but i have enough technical knowledge to realize that the pieces i'm asking for are a living inferno to do!

I'm working on recreating vintage dioramas from the background images on the old LEGO IDEAS books, and after working on castle builds (with instructions downloadable for free on the site https://www.backoftheboxbuilds.com/idea-book-260/) , now I started tackling pirates builds from the same book, but quickly realized that plenty of pieces are missing!

Therefore i'm here to ask if someone could try to tackle the Large Boat Hulls 2559c03 and 2557c03 from vintage pirates sets, as for these pieces, i really cannot find any possible alternatives (like i did for  2552px3)

  Tips for using BUILD_MOD
Posted by: mihao - 2021-12-08, 6:50 - Forum: Help - No Replies

Hi,

I am trying to use the new BUILD_MOD feature in my instruction, but honestly this feature doesn't seem to be very stable. For example, sometimes, it complains the "BUILD_MOD END" is missing, but apparently, it is there in the source file, as below.

Is there some best practices that I should follow to make this feature work?

Thanks

How to add a "!LPUB" line the the source window
Posted by: mihao - 2021-12-04, 5:39 - Forum: Help - Replies (2)

Hi,

In LDCad, is there an easy way to insert a "!LPUB ..." line at particular position in the source window? I am trying to add some "build modification" meta lines there, but couldn't find any built-in tool for that under "LDraw meta items", so thinking maybe there is a way to add a generic "!LPUB ..." line then I can update the value of the line.

Thanks

  Step for moving parts
Posted by: mihao - 2021-12-03, 23:42 - Forum: Help - Replies (3)

Does anyone know if LDraw allows to create step for moving some parts (instead of adding)?

For a complex model, it is very common to add a part (like a pin) to a component, then push it in when connecting to another component. But I haven't found a way to make such instruction in LDraw.

Thanks!

  Submitting Decorated Parts
Posted by: Lucas Gordon - 2021-11-30, 1:49 - Forum: Parts Authoring - Replies (2)

Hello
These are incredibly simple decorated parts, and I needed one so I threw together both part 3068bpb1395 and 3068bpb1367 since as far as I can tell, they are identical geometrically. How would I go about submitting these, or getting the pattern to somebody who could submit?

Cannot reliably search for even old parts in LDraw
Posted by: Timo - 2021-11-29, 17:59 - Forum: General LDraw.org Discussion - Replies (2)

Hi, recently installed LDraw but I'm tearing my hair out a bit. Many common parts don't appear to show up in LDraw part search. What am I doing wrong?

I open new model, and on the left dialogue make sure I'm at the top of the tree, then I click the lego man icon to Search Inventory:

.... then I click the filter and enter a known common part, let's say a 4x4 black plate, part number 4243819, tick all the boxes, but after clicking Accept it doesn't find the part.

Some common parts are found (such as black 1x6 plate 303226, or grey 1x4 plate 4211395), but others not (grey 4x4 plate 4243797, red 1x4 plate 371021) etc.

It doesn't make sense.

My libraries are configured as below:

I have quit & reloaded the app to update any new folder libraries/archives.

Thanks for any help.

Timo
