Question List of Parts and Connections
Posted by: Cole - 2024-01-22, 15:53 - Forum: All Other Programs. - Replies (3)

I am trying to figure out how to take Lego model files and get a list of all parts and how they connect.  Ideally, I would get something akin to an edge list (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edge_list) so I can make a design structure matrix (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Design_structure_matrix) showing how each part connects the others.

I have been looking at stuff, and the files appear to just store each part at a location and the programs state whether they collide or connect. I see that a lot of that information is kept in binary form, or lists the relative location of each connection part (such as stud2).

I am lost as to where to start. Worst case, I would have to do a giant for loop thing to check each part, the location of each other, and if it connects and how. That sounds computationally impossible for larger sets.

If you have any recommendations, please let me know.

If you're curious, this is one that I did manually. It is set 8045: the mini telehandler. You can see parts of the lift part and the fork.

Unofficial parts once again being redirected to https
Posted by: Travis Cobbs - 2024-01-20, 2:33 - Forum: Website Suggestions/Requests/Discussion - Replies (20)

LDView's unofficial parts downloading is once again broken due to the http URLs being redirected to https. For example, I debugged an attempt to download the following URL in LDView:

Code:
http://www.ldraw.org/library/unofficial/parts/s/3817cpy4s01.dat

The response was a 301 "moved permanently" response with the following new URL:

Code:
https://www.ldraw.org/library/unofficial/parts/s/3817cpy4s01.dat

This happened not too long ago and got fixed, so hopefully it can be fixed again.

Note: supporting https in a cross-platform fashion is not remotely easy, and I'm pretty sure that doing so with a third-party library such as curl also requires constant application updates to continue to function over time (updating the root certificates that the application trusts).

Thumbs Up Minifigure Parts from 71030 Looney Tunes Series
Posted by: Matthew Coleman - 2024-01-20, 0:47 - Forum: Part Requests - Replies (41)

Hey, I wanted to request the parts for every minifigure from 71030 Looney Tunes CMF Series. All you have in the LDraw database is the short legs for Tweety Bird and Speedy Gonzales.

https://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemInv...ItemType=S

It would be appreciated if you added the headpieces, the torsos and the other 10 Looney Tunes characters' legs to the database as well, but please feel free to take your time with it. I won't rush you. ;D

Might as well make a thread about my work on the Muppets series. Next up is Fozzie. Anyone own this and can tell me if it's a dual mold between the brown? Or is it triple mold with pink nose as well?

  Issue with Decorating Part 68881
Posted by: Matthew Coleman - 2024-01-19, 2:38 - Forum: Parts Authoring - Replies (2)

Hey there, I have an issue regarding Part 68881 - 10 x 5 x 2.667 Semi Circle with Curved Top when it comes to decorating it in BrickLink PartDesigner.

I tried applying a Powerpuff Girl's face onto it, but her smile is missing its center. Is there any way you could update this part's surface to make decorating it more feasible?

There's a problem with thumbnail image generation. Troubleshooting is in progress and a fix should be pushed later today.
