I think both the visor and the helmet is off.

I made this image to describe the issues. Click it, to view the animation.

Yellow is the mesh from LDD, part 30124, which is an alias of 2446.
Blue is the LDD mesh of visor 2447.
Trans red are the ldraw versions.

The simple solution is to resize the current visor.

Shrinking it is possible. It would follow the green line, instead of the red.

But the major issue would be how to handle all the other accessories made to fit on the helmet
Different knight helmet visors, diving goggles, ski goggles, space visor, night vision goggles, underwater visor, and so on...

As I'm going to create printed helmets 2446px2, 2446px3 and 2446px5, should I wait for the geometry fix of 2446?

We need to hash out what we want to do while attempting to stay as close to real world as possible. Real world measurements trump the LDD mesh.

Bump to this discussion as it is holding up the certification of parts.

I'm in the process of correcting these parts now.

This makes it necessary to obsolete a bunch of parts due to bad geometry. But how do I pick a new number for the reworked parts?
I think the practice here is to make a b-version.  2447 will become 2447b.

The base part is helmet 2446. There are three prints made and a couple of suggested assemblies.
2446 is an old number that went out of production 2002. It has been replaced by 30124. We have 30124 as an alias of 2446.
The helmet is known at Bricklink as 2446, but is only known as 30124 at Brickset.

Would it be possible to just obsolete 2446, and then reuse 30124 as the recreated version, or do I need to obsolete it too, and make 30124b?

Many of the different visors might be possible to use as is on the new helmet. Only minor adjustments are needed and they have a good origin.
My plan is to make a b-version of all visors that have a bad origin, not in the centre of the rotation point.

So normal practice would be to moved to 2447 to 2447a and the new version will be 2447b.

Yes, if I made a design variant.
In this case I want to obsolete 2447, no need for a  Move to-file, and the new version is 2447b.

I did a little research and I agree.

Back to the real question.  Do I need to obsolete the alias part too?

No. It's never been official.

Scratch that. Yes 30124 is official and needs to obsoleted as well.

Ok, I will obsolete both 2446 and 30124, but what partnumber should be picked as the base for the corrected design?
I want to pick 30124b, since 30124 is the number used by lego today as seen on the Brickset pages.
But both BL and RB seems to prefer 2446(b) for their pattern numbers.
