you can combine your model + any uncertified files into an MPD file using MPDCreator if you want.
that will allow you to upload the model here even before certification.

s15.dat (for Tow truck doors): 1 certify vote (but I think it is unlikely to need major revision, as it's a combination of certified subfiles)

I wasn't sure whether to start a new thread for the trains so I have included it here for now and a moderator is welcome to move it if that would be a better idea.
If it can stay in this thread it would be great if it could be renamed to "Town, Trains and Boats 1980" just like Takeshi did for 1993. That way we can reduce the number of threads. What do you guys think?

7730 - Electric Goods Train - A

An interesting fact about the C model, on the box art the doors are mounted in reverse, in the instructions they are mounted the normal way. I chose to keep it as shown as the box art as it is quite unusual. :-)

Other posts remaining in the original thread will be moved a little later (should be with a careful work, as I've made an incident before and asked Orion revert it).

Note that set 7730 did not have this much straight track, but this is how the box art shows it.
I also added a bit of additional information concerning the C Model in the previous post, and re-uploaded the LDR for the B model as somehow there was a naming error in it.

The last "back of the box" for set 7730. On the box, there is another wagon depicted to the left of this one, but unfortunately there is not enough shown to be able to replicate it. Once again, more straight track in this model than in the actual set, but this how it was shown on the box.

I just realized that Takeshi already uploaded an updated version of this model into this thread. Sorry about that. I hadn't realized and grabbed the one from OMR database, assuming it would be the most up-to-date version.
Perhaps it would be best to upload any updates and new models to the OMR database before creating too many more sets?

Also, would it make sense to have a post with an index at the beginning of each thread, or somewhere else in the official models forum in which one can see what is finished, and what still needs to be completed? Perhaps one could export this list/table from the OMR database as this has an entry for missing parts, stickers etc..?

I think there is a known need for the OMR to be given some love, but it is currently admin-heavy and there are other priorities. As it is, there is no way for users to submit new files and updates to existing ones; it all has to be done manually. (I also believe, though I could be mistaken, that there is a standing vacancy for anyone wishing to take over administration of the OMR…)

But it never hurts to discuss improvements. I've wondered before whether it's a good idea to post our own versions of sets that already appear in the OMR (noting that not every model in this forum needs to even be an OMR candidate). If so, should those be limited to improvements on existing sets, or can different authors post their own work so that users can compare methods, for example? (I'm not sure how much anyone actually studies this kind of thing…)

At the same time, should there be any guideline as to the required completeness of a model that's submitted? On the one hand, I know that Takeshi and others have done a huge amount of work updating models with new patterns and stickers that have needed to be authored before some models can be complete. On the other hand, flexible parts continue to be a major holdup to completeness for many sets, and those do already exist. (They're just tricky and annoying to create, and require having the proper tools—but then, so does part authoring.) ;-)

The OMR will move to the new software underlying the new PT after the PT is finished. In fact, the new PT started life as the OMR replacement when Chris retired and changed my priority. Eventually I'd like the OMR forums to be automated posts of new models. This will probably be, best guess, June-ish.

Instruction model 3

"Back of the box" is a term for any alternative model shown on the box which is not included in the instructions. Typically they were on the "back of the box" but not always.

"Back of the box" model 1 has the same locomotive as instruction model 1 but different wagons

"Back of the box" model 2 which is shown on the front and inside the box lid next to different locomotives and is not included in the instructions.

Do we need cables for OMR? I have some sets with 3mm flex tubes as cable proxys (from Studio) but they bloat the model...

Good question.
As flexible parts are currently so difficult to make, I personally don't think wires which are mostly hidden, would justify the time one would have to invest to do it properly. For this train that could involve making a wire to the correct length, connecting either end and then wrapping the excess length up inside the train as one did in the real thing.
I noticed that other models don't seem to have wires, but did want to mention it, as it is essentially a missing part.

As N. W. Perry mentioned in his post here yesterday, the requirements for completeness still need to be properly defined, but this weekend I will try to create some flexible parts and also have a look at the LD Pattern Creator to try to improve my contributions.

As priorities had to change for the last few weekends, I unfortunately didn't have much time to spend on trying out the creation of flexible parts and stickers. Nevertheless, I have to admit, having briefly tried several of the many tools that are out there, it was a rather frustrating experience. I will revisit the topic at a later date, and now have an even greater appreciation for the parts designers and program creators that have made this hobby possible!

For now, a new addition to the 1980s collection. As with set 7740 which I posted earlier, I owned this one for many years and never made the B Model, until now.

An interesting side note for the B-Model is that on the box art, the sticker which is on the door in the instructions, was placed on the front section of the locomotive instead.
