Given that 30367cps0.dat exists, I'm using its code to work up two additional models, as shown in the attached images.

(Front view):

(Rear view):

I'm posting the MPD file I'm using for my notes, in case any of you would like to look at them.

.dat   30367c p sXX.dat (Size: 106.35 KB / Downloads: 1)

My question to you all is, do you think these files are ready to be submitted to the Parts Tracker?  ;-)

Thanks,
Franklin

This is supposed to be a matter of aesthetics.
But in any event, I removed those leading spaces, so the next time I upload any of these files, this won't be a problem any more.

I'm not sure how that happened. The circle and non-circle were both angled with respect to each axis (x, y, and z), so I had to scale them accordingly.

Running a file trough Edger it will find unmatched edges and generate red lines. We usually post those lines in the PT to mark the error. Here's the related gap:

Collinear vertices means that your vertices create a triangle with no "height". See:

Just hit the "Quick fix" button in LDPE. You'll get:

BTW. 30367cps8 is missing the set reference in the keywords.

T-Junk is considered bad stile. Read:

https://wiki.ldraw.org/wiki/T-Junction

LDPE has a fine T-Junction under: Tools -> TJunctionFinder

T junctions aren't just bad style, they are illegal unless justified.

They trigger a warning, but aren't illegal. See 59:

That's basically what I wrote. Warnings need to be justified.

Hi Franklin,

Sorry, I totally missed your questions in the forum regarding my review. Undecided

As most of your questions seems to be solved just a short (or longer) note to this one.

First of all an explanation how I do reviews (the other reviewers might do it a bit different...):

a) open the File with LDDP and get a quick overview, read the header, check the description, the number etcs.
b) searching for real pictures (or grab in my own collection).
c) visual check in LDView (main color, random colour mode, bfc mode), first check for missing edges.
d) run the part through DatHeader and check the errors and warnings in LDView.
e) run the part through Edger2 - (with debug colours, to get unmatched edges, missing edges and missing condlines) Sidenote: unmatched edges is either the open end of a subpart, a gap or a t-junction.
f) open the file generated by Edger2 in LDView and make a visual check, verifiy the added edges and condlines and compare it with the original file in LDView visually.
g) if neccessary open one of both files or both files in LDPE and check the condlines and vertices there.
h) (sometimes I check the complete part in LDPE again (as LDPE has a nixe functions to show the errors and warnings in directly in the workspace))
i) write my review

For finding the gap, you need to add the edges to the file, to see where it is. Then fix the gap (correct corresponding lines and condlines, if neccessary) and delete the inserted lines.

If you have further question feel free to ask. :-)

And thank you very much for fixing the space in front of the codelines.

Best regards
/Max

You only need to list one set. It helps in cross referencing to Bricklink, Rebrickable, and other inventory site. I also highly recommend (but it's not required) to have a Bricklink <number> or Rebrickable <number> keyword as well.

I have uploaded new versions of these four sub-files. I think I've fixed most of the problems with the sub-files (I'm merely 65% certain about sub-file #4, to be honest). If anyone finds any additional (or continued) problems with them, please post details in this thread, and I'll gladly re-investigate.

Thanks, everyone!  ;-)

I checked the subfiles now and 3 got a cert vote :-)
As expected subfile 4 still contains some problems.
Please delete the lines 216 and 341 and one of each duplicated lines.
Remove one of the empty lines at the file end.
Trailing zeros are in the lines 208, 213, 335, 338, 347 and 349. It's always the y-value 11.9580

Thanks, Max.  ;-)

Surplus blank line at end-of-file has been deleted.

Telling me the specific numeric value with the extraneous trailing zero helped me greatly. Since you identified it further by telling me it was the Y-axis component, I knew I could do a simple mass-replace.

I need more details than "line number" (for the "duplicate result" lines), please.  I actually need to see the specific DAT code for the line(s) in question, in order to positively identify it, please. I'm looking for what I think may be these lines, and I'll post some of them here, to ask for more details on the problem(s) cited...

We're getting closer to my goal of adding more astromechs into the LDraw library!  ^_^

OK, going through the list of sets, these are the ones I _know_ I've bought, with the newer R2-D2 "head" (the "full dome" print jobs, as opposed to the first-generation "polar only" print jobs).

0 !KEYWORDS set 7877, set 9493, set 75136, set 75214, set 75228

. . . I don't see any "T"-junctions.  (But I could be blind.)

Please point me in the right direction.

(EDIT)
Playing with the color of those "error" lines shows me that the problem is with the 4-4 non-disc primitive. Since I have fixed the other issue with the non-disc, but have not yet submitted that correction, I believe this correction fixes both issues.

I will re-submit these two files (ps8 and ps9), and then let's test them anew.

Thanks!  ;-)

I figured out the "T"-junction issue.   ^_^

For those (like me) who did not understand how this issue occurred in the first place... ;-)
The problem with the 4-4 non-disc was that it was not just one primitive, but rather it was a placeholder for FOUR primitives, with EACH primitive being ONE-QUARTER of a circle/non-disc. Which meant that the MID-POINTS (i.e. the center point of each of the larger square's four lines) was actually an endpoint for two of the primitives, resulting in the "T"-junctions.
The More We Know! ^_^

Uploaded corrected versions of the two files in question.

Currently, these two files are being held over an issue regarding Color Code(s).  I'd be grateful if an Admin could wade in and resolve these questions, please.

Thanks!  ^_^

If any one out there would like to take over fixing these new files, please GO FOR IT!!  ^_^
My only objective with tis project was to give me and other modelers the ability to more accurately depict the multiple variants of droids in the Star Wars universe. Unfortunately, over the years, it seems that my abilities (such as they were) as a coder have been eclipsed by the more modern capabilities of the more recent tools that have come about.

And if you'd rather tackle some astromech heads from scratch, there's a huge backlog of as-yet unclaimed projects waiting to be grabbed: https://forums.ldraw.org/thread-25495.html

Thank you!  ;-)

Orion, Magnus, THANK YOU BOTH, for fixing (Orion) and reviewing (Magnus) this file.  ^_^

If at all possible, I would dearly love to have this part (regardless of whether with or without its "sister" parts) released this year. I'd consider that to be an awesome Christmas present for me!  ;-)

Thanks, again!

Line type 5 is an optional line (condline). The generic format is:
5 <colour> x1 y1 z1 x2 y2 z2 x3 y3 z3 x4 y4 z4

In the image below are A B C D, where the condline is A-B and the control point are C and D.
The control points are made visible by lines between A, C and D.

The condline in the image have one bad control point, D
Control point D needs to be changed and use vertex E, or F instead.

Your explanation along with the image helped me to understand what you meant. Thank you, sir.  ;-)

Unfortunately, since I did not actually write the original LDraw code for those cond-lines --(after all, I just recycled the code that John Troxler [Gargan] wrote for 30367cps0.dat)-- I am not certain that I will be able to do a proper job of fixing these defects.

I hate to impose upon you, but I am wondering if you would mind fixing these problematic cond-lines, please. I would consider this to be a great favor to me. And if I am out of line asking for this, please accept my apologies for my imposition.

Thank you,
Franklin

I've updated 30367cps9 per Magnus' latest advice. Hopefully, these changes will get the job done.
