Why is this part 10.2+29.8 in length rather than 10+30? When assembled in an engine, all it does it create a collision:

It's actually impossible to model properly without a collision (because LDraw parts are modeled with "ideal" dimensions): either you make a full axle hole (but it doesn't look right and nothing prevents axle to get through all the way) or you make it as it is done now. Axle joiner has the same problem, but it's hidden inside  Big Grin

Ah, I knew there must be a reason; didn't look like just a mistake.

As I think of it, the idealized dimensions of LDraw affect Technic much more than they do System (but not exclusively; see the recent discussion about slope bricks). I could always make up custom versions of a few parts where necessary for modeling purposes.

This part is one of a few that actually need extra editing if/when I start reworking the axlehole primitives.
There's a set of special primitives that might be useful here; axlecap, axlecaph and axlecaph2.
