ABB Doors u8013 and u8014

It's my understanding that these two parts actually represent a single part with a two-sided design, rather than two parts with distinct designs. Should they be merged? and if so, under what number?

I discussed this problem with JC Tchang, who has no clue whether its a single dual sided part or two different ones. If you know for sure that it's a dual sided part then a new uxxx part should be created and u8013 / u8014 be obsoletized.

As quoted and translated from this page https://jc-tchang.philohome.com/histoire/abb.htm :
Quote:Note: I still have to validate whether there is a single type of door with 8 panels on the inside and a door button on the outside or 2 types (Any information on this subject will be welcome).

Gotcha. I was just about to explain how I was quite sure they were two-sided, even though I have never seen one in person, and couldn't find any videos of somebody actually turning one over…and then I stumbled across this: https://flic.kr/p/2k8ygzm (and also https://flic.kr/p/253vnfn )

Other than that, I've been really scouring the historic literature lately, and it all refers to these early 700B windows and doors coming in 3 window styles and just one door style. And retailer price lists of the period always show the numbering as 700B/1 through 700B/3 for the windows, and 700B/4 for the door. But seeing them molded transparent pretty much settles it for me—I'm glad I just happened to find that!

I have the two-sided part already made up, so it's just a question of the number. u8040 seems to be the next available in the series.

Oh yes! great find!
Technically, you need to ask Chris for a uxxx range of parts assigned to you.

I will ask him. As far as I know these parts never had identifiers other than the known catalog numbers (700B/4 in this case), but those are kind of awkward to use as part numbers.

Please also ask him to make u8013 and u8014 obsolete.

I made sure to include that in my request. Will submit the part once I hear back (and also post some new models that use it).

The part is now submitted (and the old parts obsoleted):
