There seems to be something wrong with the seat - the white beam and tan axles under the seat are clashing with the grey beams. Looks like it might just be the tilt angle of the seat.

The key to productivity is custom set parts bin, generated with Trevor's version of Brickutils. Much faster than browsing through a gazillion of parts, wondering for exact color and so on. I use several bins panes, all pointing to the set inventory bins but with different filter keys ("beam", "pin", "axle" etc...). The magical part snapping of LDCad does the rest...

Interesting. I am still learning LDCad, but this sounds good!

Very nice.

I try to import this into Blender but the LDR-importer doesn't support MPD. I tried a method to export this again with MLCad but it will merge the new parts into one model with a black material.

Question: is it possible to convert a MPD into a LDR what the Blender script can import without errors?

I still had issues with the data because the LDR-importer will not support MPD. The LDR conversations worked but the import will merge the new added Porsche parts. The modeled decorations had wrong colors (red instead of two types of grey). And the fact that all decorations in LDRAW are modeled will cause shading issues with triangles.

But overall it's a great result.

Just import the mpd file in my new MOC. There is a small mistake with the taillights. The turn signals should be outward.

first let me say... this is a great model!!! And thanx for sharing it because this makes my goal to create a finite element simulation in order to simulate this kind of event a lot easier. (an example of how such a simulation could look like with a way smaller model can be seen here) We are not sure jet, whether a simulation of the whole 42056 set will work since it is a really complex model but at least we will try. 

While working with your "42056 - Porsche 911 GT3 RS" we came across a small error in your model. The brick '64782' in the front section of bodyframe.ldr seems to be positioned upside down. 

   

This can be seen in step 311 in the manual on page 231.

Actually the model still works with this brick upside down, so it doesn't really matter. However I thought I should mention it.

now that we have almost the whole model meshed and ready for simulation, I found another small error... Smile
On the left side where the seat is connected to the bodyframe there is a collison:

   

This is because a few parts should probably moved a bit to the front.

Here the state before correcting it:

as far as I could see this is only on the left side of the car below the driver seat.
I would send you my corrected version, however because of how I use it in the simulation it has been hugely changed, so it would break the current structure in your file.

There's a small mistake in your model. The front left wheel is 2 LDU too far inwards. File is too large to post here, so here are the differences:

and when you are at it, the rim center tile is now officially with the print (98138pt0.dat).

just cosmetically: why are the wheelhubs (and rims) at the front and rear axle differently orientated? (triangle pointing up/down)
