  suppressing edge lines in subfile
Posted by: Peter Blomberg - 2025-04-28, 1:41 - Forum: Official File Specifications/Standards - Replies (2)

Suppose a command existed that suppressed edge lines in a subfile from being drawn. Then every cyli would just be a cylo with suppression on. All discs, rings, chords, spheres, tori, etc primitives would only need to be in the library with edge lines included.

However, such a command would not be backwards compatible.

  Molded Dinosaur parts
Posted by: Andrewspyzilla - 2025-04-27, 23:39 - Forum: General LDraw.org Discussion - Replies (4)

Hello, I wanted to ask if the molded Dinosaur parts from Dino Attack, Dino 2012, and Jurassic Park/World will be added in. I use Bricklink Studio and noticed that it only had the original molded Dinosaur parts from 2000-2001 and I was told that it uses the LDraw library so I came here to ask. I am a big fan of those molds and want to use them in some digital mocs.

LDConfig with Bricklink Studio Colours for Update 2025-05
Posted by: Hageta - 2025-04-27, 14:31 - Forum: LDraw File Processing and Conversion - No Replies

I have made an LDConfig file that also includes the "Render Only" colours from Bricklink Studio.
To use it do the following:

  1. Download it
    .ldr   LDConfig_plus_bl_studio_colours.ldr (Size: 51.86 KB / Downloads: 9)
  2. Move it to your LDraw folder
  3. Rename "LDConfig.ldr" to LDConfig_default.ldr(or something else)
  4. Rename "LDConfig_plus_bl_studio_colours.ldr" to "LDConfig.ldr"
  5. Done!

This can be usefull when viewing LDraw files exported from Bricklink Studio.

  No/minimal parts in Parts bin
Posted by: Mark Andrews - 2025-04-27, 14:13 - Forum: LDraw Editors and Viewers - Replies (2)

I've just installed a clean version of LDraw, including LDCad but i'm having trouble building a new part from just primitives.
The parts bin just contains the "Main Group" which I can't change, and it seems like the primitives are not in the parts bin

Specifically, I'm trying to find the primitives, i.e. stud.dat. I know it's located in the complete.zip file and I know the zip file is located at C:\Users\Public\Documents\LDraw\complete.zip and I've checked the LDraw search paths, and they are set correctly so I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

  Part 69859pb02 (Surtur's Head)
Posted by: Eastwood - 2025-04-27, 13:25 - Forum: Part Requests - Replies (3)

To whom it may concern,

I was told this was the place to post for a part request and not the actual Bricklink part forums (despite what I was told by Bricklink via email 😭),
Studio doesn't have this part nor any part remotely resembling its unique shape. It's painful because I need it for an alternate build I wanna pop up on Rebrickable. I was told specialised pieces are not priority here but I am submitting a request anyways and see what happens.

Cheers!

[LDPE] 1.8.92 Released (Intel Arc / Colour 24 hints / BFC-meta warning bugfix)
Posted by: Nils Schmidt - 2025-04-27, 11:49 - Forum: Parts Author Tools - Replies (13)

Hey,

this version provides !TEXMAP and material support for Intel Arc GPUs (on the default OpenGL 2.0 graphics renderer).
I am now in situation where I can test on dedicated GPUs from AMD, Intel and NVidia.

As always, you can download LDPE from this page:

http://nilsschmidt1337.github.io/ldparteditor/

Changelog:

(1 new feature and 2 bug fixes)

With this release you will be able to...

  • ...see a hint about wrong colours for lines and condlines or other non-line objects with colour 24.

The following critical issues are fixed:

  1. Warnings on BFC meta commands deactivated the meta command on the affecting line (e.g. a "0 BFC CERTIFY CW" on line 7 was deactivated).
  2. [OpenGL 2.0] The LDraw Standard Render Mode (with TEXMAP) did not work on Intel Arc dGPUs.

The program was tested intensively with "real world" files.
However, something can go wrong in about 140.000 lines of code.

Installation on Windows:

  1. Download and extract LDPartEditor_win32_x64.zip
  2. Run LDPartEditor-1.8.92.msi
  3. Start LDPartEditor from the start menu
Installation on Linux:

  1. Download and extract LDPartEditor_linux_x64.zip
  2. Install ldparteditor_1.8.92-1_amd64.deb
  3. Start LDPartEditor from the menu or via launcher
Installation on Mac OS X:

  1. Download and extract LDPartEditor_mac_x64.zip
  2. Mount LDPartEditor-1.8.92.dmg
  3. Drag LDPartEditor.app to the Applications folder
  4. Copy ldparteditor.sh to your home folder
        4a. Open a Terminal.app and run ./ldparteditor.sh
        4b. Or open a Terminal.app and run /Applications/LDPartEditor.app/Contents/MacOS/LDPartEditor

I listen carefully to your requests and possible complaints. Please leave me a message, with your thoughts and wishes to further improve the software.

LDPE is a 3D CAD application: The overall system requirements are higher. While I recommend to use a powerful 64-bit multicore system, it could be possible, to run LDPE on older machines as well.

System Requirements:

Minimum System Requirements:
  • OpenGL 2.1 compatible Graphics Card
  • Operating System (64-bit): Windows [7 or newer], Linux [e.g. Ubuntu Linux >=14.4], Mac OS X [>=10.6]
  • CPU: Multicore-Processor e.g. Intel Core 2 Duo or AMD Athlon II (>2.0Ghz)
  • RAM: 4GB
  • Video-Memory: 1 GB
  • Free Disk Space: 150 MB
Recommended Requirements:
  • Operating System (64bit): Windows 7,8,10,11, Linux [e.g. Ubuntu Linux >=14.4], Mac OS X [>=10.6]
  • OpenGL 3.3 compatible Graphics Card
  • CPU: Multicore-Processor with 4 cores (or more)
  • RAM: >4 GB
  • Video-Memory: >1 GB
  • Free Disk Space: 500 MB
  • For a faster start, LDPartEditor and the LDraw™ library should be installed on an SSD.

LDraw.org 2025-04 Parts Update Now Available
Posted by: Orion Pobursky - 2025-04-27, 7:17 - Forum: LDraw.org Announcements - Replies (1)

The 2025-04 LDraw Parts Update has been released. This update adds 189 new files to the core library, including 129 new parts and 10 new primitives.

I will note that there are about 7700 parts in this update that have had some minor edits to KEYWORDS, CATEGORY, or LICENSE.

Thanks are due to all the part authors who created or corrected parts for this release. The small, but dedicated, band of reviewers also play an important role in keeping files moving through the Parts Tracker and deserve just as much credit. This update wouldn't have been possible without their dedication and attention to detail.

You can preview the new parts in 2025-04 here, and download the zip-file update or Windows install package here.

Thank you to all the testers and parts authors who continue giving feedback on the PT software. This project would not be what it is without your help.

  LdrawLoader based program
Posted by: Brickboy22 - 2025-04-26, 22:43 - Forum: All Other Programs. - Replies (2)

Warning to all viewing thread - this project is in beta - lots of issues and bugs everywhere.

Hi all. I recently started working on a ThreeJS/LdrawLoader based webapp after putting it off for some time. It's called Gr8brik. It's exactly what it sounds like.
I have to admit that I've only been doing ThreeJS for less than a year, same with LdrawLoader. I discovered Ldraw three years ago - and since I've liked it. I've also liked things like Mecabricks, which is why I've decided to "combine" the two in a way - all I can say is making this has been fun.

Note there is loads and loads of bugs, and I plan to rewrite multiple things. Also this isn't a complete alternative to things that already exist, ofc Bricklink Studio is going to be better than this.

Also - you're free to look at the source code - just be aware it's very messy and uses some hacks to get things working.
