The 2025-02 LDraw Parts Update has been released. This update adds 596 new files to the core library, including 437 new parts and 11 new primitives.
Thanks are due to all the part authors who created or corrected parts for this release. The small, but dedicated, band of reviewers also play an important role in keeping files moving through the Parts Tracker and deserve just as much credit. This update wouldn't have been possible without their dedication and attention to detail.
You can preview the new parts in 2025-02 here, and download the zip-file update or Windows install package here.
Thank you to all the testers and parts authors who continue giving feedback on the PT software. This project would not be what it is without your help.

An updated version of the LDraw All-In-One-Installer, in short AIOI, containing the LDraw Parts Library Updates from 2024-06 to 2025-01.
The AIOI supports Windows XP (Home and Pro), Windows Vista or higher (all versions). There are two installer files available: Use the 64 Bit AIOI to install all the main 64 Bit programs, while the older 32 Bit programs are offered in a separated .exe file. Please note that only the 64 Bit version contains the LDraw Parts Library. If you want to use the 32 Bit programs, it is mandatory that the library has been installed previously. The Installer will NOT run on Windows 95, 98, ME, NT Ver 4, 2000, or XP below SP2.
It contains the following changes:
* Update to LDCad 1.7 Beta 1
* Update to LPub3D 2.4.9
* Update to Parts Library 2025-01
* Update to MLCad.ini 2025-01
* Update to Offline Parts Catalog 2025-01
You can download the AIOI from:
LDraw.org >> Help >> Get Started >> Windows >> LDraw All-In-One-Installer
Many thanks to all the programmers who contributed to this release.

LDCad Part Snapping No Longer Working |

Something odd happened to my installation of LDCad 1.7 yesterday. When I started the application, it loaded as if it was a new install: defaulting to the blue background, asking where my LDraw library lives, etc.
My favorited parts and hotkey config remained, but my favorited colors did not.
I was able to fix all of that, but one thing remains: enabling part snapping has no effect. I tried downloading and replacing the latest shadow file ("C:\Users\[user]\AppData\Roaming\LDCad\shadow\offLib\offLibShadow.csl"). I've tried pointing LDCad's shadow library settings at the ".../Shadow" and .../Shadow/offLib" folders (restarting afterward), but with no effect.
What else can I try? Or should I just do a full reinstall of LDCad?
If reinstall, are there any good threads describing how to make sure favorites and hotkeys survive the reinstall?
Thanks

New !COLOUR finish |

It has been requested that we set up a new !COLOUR MATERIAL to deal with fabric materials:
https://forums.ldraw.org/thread-28335.html
In my opinion, this would probably be better as a new finish, instead of adding MATERIAL FABRIC <blah blah blah>. There are a number of different fabric materials, and I feel that each should be supported. At the minimum, we have:
- Standard minifigure capes
- Qui-Gon Poncho
- Buildable Boba Fett cloth pauldron (Is this the same material as the poncho above?)
- String (are there multiple types of LEGO string?)
- Sails (same material as minifigure capes?)
- Tepee/covered wagon
The other thread (that anyone can post to) died off, so it doesn't seem like anybody other than Willy wants to provide input, so I am proposing to add FABRIC as a new !COLOUR finish, with a required type being one of the following values:
- CAPE
- VELVET
- CANVAS
- STRING
Example for buildable Darth Vader's cape:
Code: 0 !COLOUR Black_Velvet CODE 999 VALUE #0A0A0A EDGE #808080 FABRIC VELVET

finding abandoned files |

Quite some time ago now, there was a tool on the Tracker to allow us to find those files which were in the most desperate need of attention, i.e.: it would list those files which had not been updated for the longest time, in chronological order. I have not seen that tool any more on the Tracker for a year now, I think.
Was this tool discontinued? Why? And can it be restored (or replaced with something newer)?
Thank you.
