Exclamation 2024/2025 LDraw.org Steering Committee: Call for Nominations
Posted by: Max Martin Richter - 2024-03-17, 19:24 - Forum: LDraw.org Announcements - Replies (40)

Per the LDraw.org Bylaws at http://www.ldraw.org/article/268.html, Subsection
6.03(a), the 2023/2024 Steering Committee hereby calls for the community to
nominate individuals as candidates for the 2024/2025 Steering Committee[1].

Please post nominations in response to this message. Nominations will only be
recognized if they are in response to this message.

Per ss.6.03(a), you must specify the name of the person you are nominating,
along with your name. Another member of the community must second the nomination
in a reply, and the nominee must publicly accept the nomination in the same
channel (direct reply to the nomination or second) in order to be valid. If the
nominee does not accept, it will be assumed that he or she has declined, and
they will not be placed on the ballot.

Nominations will close at 11:59 PM GMT on 31 March 2024. This means that to
be listed on the ballot, a candidate must have been nominated, seconded and must
have formally stated acceptance by that time.

The Steering Committee will give sufficient notice of the election and election
procedures per ss.6.03(b).

NOTE: subsection 6.03(b) states that elections should take place before March 1.
We interpret this to mean that we will commence the election on March 1, but
since it is electronic, it will run for 2 weeks, just as last time. The exact
time and date of start and end will be announced sometime very close to (but
after) 0000 GMT March 1.
Please note that due to internal processes the process of the nomination and election is one month later as stated in subsection 6.03(b) this year.
We give our very best to get back to the normal election schedule in 2025.

Again, thanks to all of you for your commitment to the goals of the
organization, and in working with us this year. Please, stay involved with
LDraw.org and keep it moving forward!

Max Martin Richter
On behalf of the LDraw.org Steering Committee

Standards Board (LSB). The Steering Committee sets the course for the LDraw
Organization while the Standards Board deals with the LDraw File Format.

  [REQUEST] Dreamz new sword mesh
Posted by: Richard - 2024-03-16, 23:15 - Forum: Part Requests - Replies (2)

Comes in these colours:
https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/cat...#T=C&C=115
https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/cat...3#T=C&C=11

Would be good for the part library to go with the other swords.

Might anyone have it available in obj format in addition?

  Sesame Street (21324) Minifigs
Posted by: Fredrik Hareide - 2024-03-16, 20:47 - Forum: Parts Authoring - Replies (8)

I will use this thread for posts about my work on the Sesame Street minifigs.

First of all. Does anyone own the set? And are you willing to take some photos of the inside of the heads so I can examine the molding?

  Official Part Fix Submission
Posted by: Orion Pobursky - 2024-03-15, 18:36 - Forum: Parts Tracker Discussion - Replies (6)

I'm considering allowing all registered authors to submit fixes to official parts. I have a feeling this has been admin only since the old PT code made submission and deletion a pain. Any strong opinions?

[LDPE] 1.8.76 Released (rotation bugfix / edger2 defaults / slashes)
Posted by: Nils Schmidt - 2024-03-15, 17:37 - Forum: Parts Author Tools - Replies (18)

Hey,

this release finally fixes the annoying bug regarding rotations with the manipulator.
Thanks to Philo and Fredrik I was able to find all the root causes for this.

As always, you can download LDPE from this page:

http://nilsschmidt1337.github.io/ldparteditor/

Changelog:

(2 new features and 1 bug fix)

With this release you will be able to...

  • ...be warned about "slashes" in subfile references and you can "Quick Fix" it.
  • ..."Exclude Unmatched Edges" by default in Edger2.

The following critical issue is fixed:

  1. The 3D manipulator orientation got polluted during rotation.

The program was tested intensively with "real world" files.
However, something can go wrong in about 140.000 lines of code.

Installation on Windows:

  1. Download and extract LDPartEditor_win32_x64.zip
  2. Run LDPartEditor-1.8.76.msi
  3. Start LDPartEditor from the start menu
Installation on Linux:

  1. Download and extract LDPartEditor_linux_x64.zip
  2. Install ldparteditor_1.8.76-1_amd64.deb
  3. Start LDPartEditor from the menu or via launcher
Installation on Mac OS X:

  1. Download and extract LDPartEditor_mac_x64.zip
  2. Mount LDPartEditor-1.8.76.dmg
  3. Drag LDPartEditor.app to the Applications folder
  4. Copy ldparteditor.sh to your home folder
        4a. Open a Terminal.app and run ./ldparteditor.sh
        4b. Or open a Terminal.app and run /Applications/LDPartEditor.app/Contents/MacOS/LDPartEditor

I listen carefully to your requests and possible complaints. Please leave me a message, with your thoughts and wishes to further improve the software.

LDPE is a 3D CAD application: The overall system requirements are higher. While I recommend to use a powerful 64-bit multicore system, it could be possible, to run LDPE on older machines as well.

System Requirements:

Minimum System Requirements:
  • OpenGL 2.1 compatible Graphics Card
  • Operating System (64-bit): Windows [7 or newer], Linux [e.g. Ubuntu Linux >=14.4], Mac OS X [>=10.6]
  • CPU: Multicore-Processor e.g. Intel Core 2 Duo or AMD Athlon II (>2.0Ghz)
  • RAM: 4GB
  • Video-Memory: 1 GB
  • Free Disk Space: 150 MB
Recommended Requirements:
  • Operating System (64bit): Windows 7,8,10,11, Linux [e.g. Ubuntu Linux >=14.4], Mac OS X [>=10.6]
  • OpenGL 3.3 compatible Graphics Card
  • CPU: Multicore-Processor with 4 cores (or more)
  • RAM: >4 GB
  • Video-Memory: >1 GB
  • Free Disk Space: 500 MB
  • For a faster start, LDPartEditor and the LDraw™ library should be installed on an SSD.
