Helmet and Visor (7071.dat)

Helmet and Visor (7071.dat)
#1
Hi!

Various Speed Champions sets include a Formula 1 helmet (7071.dat).
Unfortunately, I can only assign a color to the helmet itself, but not to the visor.
I haven't been able to find a solution on the forum.
Is there one?

Best regards
Alfred

Hello,

The reason is likely that this is the single-color version.

Only one color can be passed to a part at a time. If a part consists of one or more colors, one color must be defined as the base color (16), and the other colors are hardcoded in the file. The base color is replaced by the color when the file is called. It would be advisable to define the helmet itself in the base color and the visor as a hardcoded part.

However, this requires creating a separate file for each visor color.

I hope this explanation is clear.

Regards,

Manfred

Hi Manfred!
Thanks for the feedback!
Yeah, that makes sense!

But those files aren't available yet.
I'll start working on them :-)

Alfred

Hi Manfred!

I found the solution:
All you have to do is assign a transparent color to the s02 file in the main file.
I did that, and it resulted in six files with different Visor colors.

.dat   7071x01 (trans_black).dat (Size: 482 bytes / Downloads: 2)

.dat   7071x02 (trans_red).dat (Size: 477 bytes / Downloads: 1)

.dat   7071x03 (trans_green).dat (Size: 479 bytes / Downloads: 0)

.dat   7071x04 (trans_dark_pink).dat (Size: 483 bytes / Downloads: 0)

.dat   7071x05 (trans_orange).dat (Size: 480 bytes / Downloads: 0)

.dat   7071x06 (trans_clear).dat (Size: 479 bytes / Downloads: 1)

If you’d like, check the filenames and headers, and then upload the files
UNDER YOUR NAME (since I’m not the part author) to the part tracker.

Thanks and best regards,
Alfred

Hi Alfred,

I'm glad you were able to resolve your issue.

You can request permission to be a part author by sending an email to Orion. Then you can upload the parts to the Part Tracker yourself.

I would change the first few lines as follows (first one as example):

0 Minifig Helmet Racing with Integral Transparent Black Visor
0 Name: 7071p01.dat
0 Author: Alfred Schmitz [your login name]
0 !LDRAW_ORG Unofficial_Part
0 !LICENSE Licensed under CC BY 4.0 : see CAreadme.txt

You are the author of this part; you created a modified copy of another part.

Parts with multiple colors, for example, parts with pattern, or parts made up of different colors, receive an additional suffix for the version, which begins with "p". So in your case, p01 to p06.

Regards,

Manfred

Hi Manfred!

My knowledge is way too limited to be a Part Author!!!
This one was still easy.

I’ve done something similar with Philippe Hurbain [Philo] before.
I don’t mind at all that my name doesn’t appear in the file!!!
I can still help this way.

So, once again, the request: UNDER YOUR NAME ...

Thanks and best regards,

Alfred

Since all of these helmet also have a printed pattern on the top surface, only adding colour to the visor will not work.

A helmet without print, and only a coloured visor doesn't exist, so it will not be made.

The same pattern is used on all of the collectibles, so making that pattern would make all the other possible.

Too complicated!
Bye, Alfred
