4.5L technic axle and new Lego Education wheel with glued on tire

4.5L technic axle and new Lego Education wheel with glued on tire

Hi,

I tried making the 4.5L axle by shortening the 5.5L axle but the new version of LDCAD crashes if you change a part externally then click to reload it in the LDCAD dialog box.

It should be easy enough, just make the end that does not have the stopper 1L shorter.

The other part is the 4th size of spike prime style wheel get get now, it is second largest. as opposed to XL M and S, this would be L

here is an image of it:

This is not utterly useful, what we need is the part number...

I see, yeah. we could just use a virtual part number for now like u8125.dat, I have the element ID from images of the parts inventory but not the part number yet.

I wanna start designing something in LDCAD but the front and rear axle needs this new part

Actually, it wasn't that hard to make, my brain must have been mush when I tried before

I could not add the snap info via the shadow library so I inlined it in the parts ,dat file  itself.

It might be slightly too long, but 5.5 axles are weird anyhow so maybe not. If it is, lemme know and I'll try and fix it. I basically just subtracted 20LCU from the correct token that represents the length of the primitive for axle 5.5L type 2 (59426.dat) as well as copied the shadow library data for 59426.dat into the attached file and then subtracted 20LDU from the correct token in shadow data that represents the length.

I also noticed that there was not a differential assembly in LDCAD for this:

So I made one, I noticed that some differential assemblies were part of the LDRAW library but some were part of the LDCAD shortcut folder with the author: LDCAD, I did not want LDCAD to keep showing this dialog however:

So, I did the best of both worlds, I made it part of the LDRAW folder but I gave it the filename and part description using the formats that the shadow folder did for differential assemblies.

You can still right click > reorganize > inline it just fine though.
