Any chance of getting this one?

Also, if anyone could point me to a how-to, I'd love to contribute in any way I could.

A VERY rough description of my process...
  • find a "good enough" image, seen from front
  • vectorize this image. I used CorelDraw, but I guess that other free tools can do the job (Inkscape?), export as SVG.
  • launch Blender, import a LDraw head dat file (I use a derivative of TobyLobster import-export add on written by Fredrik Hareide)
  • import the svg, convert to curve, scale it properly, simplify it (curve simplifier plugin), convert to mesh and clean it manually.
  • place it in front of the head (viewed from -Y direction)
  • select the surfaces of the head where you want to apply the pattern, edit it, apply a merge by distance with a small value
  • Still in edit mode, select the cleaned mesh from the svg
  • mesh -> knife project
  • Color the surfaces, export to LDraw file, add that to the head structure in LDPart Editor.

Hopefully someone else will chime in and provide some tips for the more traditional way of doing that, using LDPatternCreator...

This is where direct TEXMAPping of LDraw code would be pretty darn sweet. Big Grin

That is a lot to learn in a short period of time Sad

I'm really looking to get all the pieces from this fig:
https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/cat...conly%22:0}

Can I pay for these to be authored, even if it's a few bucks? I have another couple of figs I'd additionally love authored...  (col147 and cas592, all non-single colored pieces, head, torso, shield, etc...) How's this work again? I feel that coming here and begging is me abusing your skills...

Feel free to email me if that works better, computer carl at gmail dot com

Thanks.

The problem is not so much carving the patterns into LDraw parts, but to find the right reference materials. Do you have good images for these parts? All I could find on the web is small scale/crappy

Both have fair pics on Bricklink... I suspect that my version of fair vs what you need are not the same LOL. I attached some as well.

https://brickset.com/article/123389/revi...e_vignette has some good ones of cas592's torso/legs/shield
https://www.sgeseller.shop/?path=page/gg...id=3281072 has some good ones for col147.

Let me know what's usable, what isn't, and how I can help. Thanks!

Those are too fuzzy really. BI has the textures for set 31168 which are probably good enough to make the cas592 parts with.

For example the shield which I decided to give a go:

It is not on the tracker yet though.
