Do you intend to upload the new parts to the Parts Tracker?

Btw, there was already a thread regarding 1996 Town.

Yes, concerning the parts, I mailed to the address mentioned in the documentation.

The model should conform to OMR specifications, so you can add them there as well.

I saw that thread, sorry to have opened a new thread. Move these posts there if you like.

Indy Transport was my favorite set growing up. It was one of the first big sets I remember getting as a kid.

Where might I find more info on the redesign? I never knew there were two versions.

I also only noticed during building the sets LDraw files.

Bricklink lists the alternative variant for example.

The differences are on the trailer:
- truck / trailer hinge raised/reinforced
- rear axle raised and stabilized with a plate
- upper tiltable platform hinges doubled and platform reinforced by using a plate instead of a thin bar

Raising the trailer gives a higher center of gravity, so more easy to tip over, but during play the pin could slip out too easily. Rear axle in first variant was two rows of 1x4, which could fall off when driving over obstacles and the upper platform could collapse due to too thin transverse bar and only one row of hinges per side.

First variant looks a little better, but in practice it had drawbacks during play.

"Quick overview of redesign: On the upper deck of the trailer a white 2 x 4 plate is replaced by a white 4 x 4 plate and some of the white hinges are doubled up. A black 4 x 8 plate is added above the trailer wheels and a black 2 x 4 technic plate is added to the tractor where the trailer attaches"

Thanks for the info. I will have to dig out my instructions to see which version I had as a kid.

Most fansites have the original version (Peeron, Brickfactory, Worldbricks).

Here's a link to the revised version (scroll a bit down):
https://www.toysperiod.com/lego-set-refe...transport/

I don't know when they revised it. I got 6335 in mid January 1996 (so likely a first batch set); mine had the original version. The hinges were actually a bit too weak to hold the full weight (and lever force) of the long ramp and their own. Funnily set 6938 had a similar issue which got fixed before release, but not before promotional photos were taken.

Sadly Lego doesn't have a vector version available (nor an inventory). 6337 has both. 1996 was the first year to be acknowledge on Lego's customer service page, however it is still missing some sets.

Found my old instructions and it appears that I have the redesign. Interesting I never knew the design history on this one.
