[LDPE] 1.8.92 Released (Intel Arc / Colour 24 hints / BFC-meta warning bugfix)

Hey,

this version provides !TEXMAP and material support for Intel Arc GPUs (on the default OpenGL 2.0 graphics renderer).
I am now in situation where I can test on dedicated GPUs from AMD, Intel and NVidia.

As always, you can download LDPE from this page:

http://nilsschmidt1337.github.io/ldparteditor/

Changelog:

(1 new feature and 2 bug fixes)

With this release you will be able to...
  • ...see a hint about wrong colours for lines and condlines or other non-line objects with colour 24.

The following critical issues are fixed:

  1. Warnings on BFC meta commands deactivated the meta command on the affecting line (e.g. a "0 BFC CERTIFY CW" on line 7 was deactivated).
  2. [OpenGL 2.0] The LDraw Standard Render Mode (with TEXMAP) did not work on Intel Arc dGPUs.

The program was tested intensively with "real world" files.
However, something can go wrong in about 140.000 lines of code.

Installation on Windows:

  1. Download and extract LDPartEditor_win32_x64.zip
  2. Run LDPartEditor-1.8.92.msi
  3. Start LDPartEditor from the start menu
Installation on Linux:

  1. Download and extract LDPartEditor_linux_x64.zip
  2. Install ldparteditor_1.8.92-1_amd64.deb
  3. Start LDPartEditor from the menu or via launcher
Installation on Mac OS X:

  1. Download and extract LDPartEditor_mac_x64.zip
  2. Mount LDPartEditor-1.8.92.dmg
  3. Drag LDPartEditor.app to the Applications folder
  4. Copy ldparteditor.sh to your home folder
        4a. Open a Terminal.app and run ./ldparteditor.sh
        4b. Or open a Terminal.app and run /Applications/LDPartEditor.app/Contents/MacOS/LDPartEditor

I listen carefully to your requests and possible complaints. Please leave me a message, with your thoughts and wishes to further improve the software.

LDPE is a 3D CAD application: The overall system requirements are higher. While I recommend to use a powerful 64-bit multicore system, it could be possible, to run LDPE on older machines as well.

System Requirements:

Minimum System Requirements:
  • OpenGL 2.1 compatible Graphics Card
  • Operating System (64-bit): Windows [7 or newer], Linux [e.g. Ubuntu Linux >=14.4], Mac OS X [>=10.6]
  • CPU: Multicore-Processor e.g. Intel Core 2 Duo or AMD Athlon II (>2.0Ghz)
  • RAM: 4GB
  • Video-Memory: 1 GB
  • Free Disk Space: 150 MB
Recommended Requirements:
  • Operating System (64bit): Windows 7,8,10,11, Linux [e.g. Ubuntu Linux >=14.4], Mac OS X [>=10.6]
  • OpenGL 3.3 compatible Graphics Card
  • CPU: Multicore-Processor with 4 cores (or more)
  • RAM: >4 GB
  • Video-Memory: >1 GB
  • Free Disk Space: 500 MB
  • For a faster start, LDPartEditor and the LDraw™ library should be installed on an SSD.

Is this available in a portable zip for windows by chance? Been a number of versions since I downloaded it and I cant easily install on the PC I want to use it on.

Nice, the Tex Map support is really appreciated, thanks Smile

Regarding this:

"...see a hint about wrong colours for lines and condlines or other non-line objects with colour 24."

Can this be turned on/off?

Might not be a big deal, but I sometimes use colored lines as markers during parts creation process. Getting a lot of "error" messages that way might obscure the real issues in the file.

Moved to-primitives

The detection of Moved to-primitives doesn't work as expected anymore.

While working on the old part 4212b I see that it uses stug2.dat, but there is no error message in the Problem window.
But when I "inline" that prim, to get the correct stug-2x2, all the other stug2 are suddenly also detected.

Thanks, Magnus. I created an issue (#1153).

Its not a big deal. Those are just "hints", not "warnings".

A portable version of LDPE is unfortunately technically not so trivial to make, anymore.

Line types 2/5 not being color 24 and 1/3/4 using color 24 are errors that will cause the part submission to be rejected by the PT.

I'd say the warning is needed to alert you that there's an issue.

Could be a nice feature to be able to "dismiss" or "ignore" one or all of a certain warning though. Just as we have "quick fix" and "quick fix similar" now. Or even just a way to collapase identical warnings in the list, just for those who like a very tidy workspace. :-)
