We have now two almost identical files:

19727p00 - https://library.ldraw.org/tracker/24108

19727p04 - https://library.ldraw.org/tracker/24111

First, this comes only in white:

https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/cat...=1#T=C&C=1

which would require to remove the white square, on the other side we have patterns where we added the color of the part to the pattern.

I would eliminate one of these two patterns, but I don't feel strong about. If both stay the white square has to be added back to 19727p00. Thoughts?

Here's some links:
https://rebrickable.com/parts/19727pr000...uth-print/
https://rebrickable.com/parts/19727pr000...der-print/

I can't tell the difference between the above 2 Rebrickable entries

https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/cat...13#T=C&C=1
https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/cat...7pb002#T=C

These are the 2 referenced by the parts in question. Aside from plastic color and the white border, they are the same. IMO both p00 or p04 should have the eyes hard coded white and one of the 2 should have the white border.

We are not talking about 19727pr0006 which is a different pattern. It has a tan line at the bottom of the mouth and the dots are tan as well. The dots in 19727pr0004 are pink.

We are discussing if there should be two version of 19727pr0004 in the library. One with, one without the white square around the face.

RB parts aside, I followed up with the actual BL parts referenced and offered an opinion. Do you like that opinion or do you have a different take.

I don't have a strong opinion about. My only concerns- as always - is bloat. If the above is fine with you, I'm fine with it as well.

The core question is: do we want to have both files? If yes, the white areas need to be hardcoded on one of the files. If no, the white areas need to be hardcoded on the file we keep (which should be p00).

for the same reason (partially white print on white part) I made this:
https://library.ldraw.org/tracker/31045
https://library.ldraw.org/tracker/31046
(yes you could have a white print on a white part)
-> any consensus on that?

I can live with one file with the white square around the face.

If I understand the issue correctly, the only reason to have two versions would be if we rendered white ink/printing differently from white plastic. On real parts the difference might be (subtly) noticeable, but at the moment we don't have anything in the config for ink colors/materials.

Consensus is one part with white printing.
