LDCad 1.5 Beta 2 (win+linux)

LDCad 1.5 Beta 2 (win+linux)
#1
Hello all,

I've finally managed to finish beta 2.

It mainly fixes some minor and some potential very annoying things.

It also introduces some minor new features, namely:

(sub)model duplication.
New path part skin options (to better emulate LSynth behavior if wanted).
Part bin search tweaks (you can now search for e.g. 2x4 and it will find "2 x 4", "2 x 4", "3 x 2 x 4" etc).
New/updated snap info (mostly done by Philo, thanks to him for that).

If no major problems are found / reported based on this version I'm hoping to do a final 1.5 version in a couple of weeks.

As always the latest version can be found here:

Roland,

I've got a feature request:

* I'd like to have an equivalent to the "Draw to selection only" in MLCad

And I'm still looking forward to:

* Possibility to lock a part in place
* An autosave function 'cos...
* The background of unofficial parts in the parts bin should be different from certified parts. Best would be if I could assign a color via Prefs > Search (library) paths ... > Current item properties

Since we are there please invert the Move up/down buttons with the New/Delete buttons so that the New/Delete buttons are at the top.

Yes,
I would also like to have the "Draw to selection only" combined with some sort of "show next part", like MLCad uses pgup/pgdn.

When making parts I use LDDP and have it set to poll to the selected line every time i press F11.
The F11 button is thee most frequently used key on my keyboard.
In LDDP: Tool/Polling/Poll on demand (F11)

Is that feature present in LPE? Haven't found it yet...

"Draw to selection" shouldn't be to big of a deal to implement but it's too big a change for the 1.5 version, so I'll try to add it in 1.6.

In the mean time you could 'fake' it by dragging around a step meta in the source window. This will only work for models though, as parts are handled very differently inside LDCad (they need render mesh preparations etc).

"background of unofficial parts in the parts bin" is already planned for 1.6, might be combined with 'is bfc 'and 'has snap info' indications.

Hello all,

I seems I've broken the paste feature in this latest version. As this is kinda a serve problem I'm considering releasing a beta 2a but before I do I would like to know if anyone else noticed something that needs fixing. As I don't want to have to make a 'b' version a day later for something else Smile

Just installed it, so not much to say yet... One thing:
Quote:Part bin search tweaks (you can now search for e.g. 2x4 and it will find "2 x 4", "2 x 4", "3 x 2 x 4" etc).
That's a good idea... but I tend to think it should also find "4 x 2" (I can't ever remember the order of appearance of dimensions).

I think it's always the smaller number first. The filter isn't too smart though it just ignores white space when a 'x' is present in a and/or search text Smile

No additional problems were reported, so I'm assuming the paste thing was the only urgent issue.

I corrected the paste bug in the Beta 2a now available at

Changes:
Removed "-1" from a single source line Smile
