Recommendation for future updates

Recommendation for future updates

Might be interesting to add an 'unofficial' (unofficial/p /parts /parts/s) directory under ldraw to enable users to dump the unofficial required parts for their projects, and have them use the MLCad.ini path walk for scanning parts, makes for a cleaner integration of the parts without messing with the official library.

Thoughts?

This was debated a number of years ago by the LSC, and got voted down.

As I'm sure you know, LDView automatically creates an Unofficial directory when you load a file with unofficial parts and haven't disabled its automatic download of unofficial parts. Additionally, Willy has an mlcad.ini tutorial that includes adding the unofficial directories to its search paths.

My recommendation was based on the MLCAD.ini Unofficial directory search. oh well... Guess I'll just make a post about it or add a recommendation in the Wiki Smile

I'm currently working on a tutorial which teaches in detail how to add unofficial parts.
