Yes, you should.

With POV-Ray 3.7, the 'right' way of rendering is using an assumed_gamma value of 1.0 and specifying all colors using srgb (or srgbft). This will avoid all kinds of problems surrounding the gamma correction of the rendered image.

   

This is your scene rendered with the correct assumed_gamma value of 1.0 and updated srgb definitions for red and black. All other colors appear washed out because they are defined in rgb format and POV-Ray does not adjust for gamma.
