This is my suggestion:
Keep the name on the files, but edit thier descriptions with a fasttrack.
Sort the files as axle primitives on the reference page.
Ban them from beeing used as axlehole primitives.
axlehol8.dat "Technic Axle Hole Perimeter"
axlehol9.dat "Technic Axle Hole Tooth Inner Edges"
axleho10.dat "Technic Axle Hole Tooth Surface"
Maybe axleho10 need a better description as a "negative hole", surface surrounding an axle base inscribed in a circle.
There is a fourth primitive, axlehol2, needed and used in designs on an axle.
It's the only file allowed, and useful, in both an axle hole, and as an axle.
We would then have a family of primitives like this:
axle.dat "Axle"
axles.dat "Axle Sloped"
axleend.dat "Axle End Surface"
axlehol8.dat "Axle Perimeter"
axlehol9.dat "Axle Inner Edges"
axleho10.dat "Axle Base Surface"
axlecap.dat "Axle Endcap"
axlecaph.dat "Axle Endcap with Hole 4D"
axlecaph2.dat "Axle Endcap with Hole 5D"

Should the last 2 also loose the word Technic, or should they all have Technic as the first word in their descriptions?
