It's actually impossible to model properly without a collision (because LDraw parts are modeled with "ideal" dimensions): either you make a full axle hole (but it doesn't look right and nothing prevents axle to get through all the way) or you make it as it is done now. Axle joiner has the same problem, but it's hidden inside
