One could bypass Blender completely and do an straight LDraw-to-Yafaray conversion, I think. Yafaray is free too. POV-Ray is just so awfully slow....

Normally, you need Blender to convert your model to the format used in the Yafaray's XML files. Afterward, you can feed the XML file into Yafaray and render the scene there. However, it should be possible to export an LDraw model directly into XML if you understand the format.

It contains a blend file, a rendered image, and an XML file that can be fed into Yafaray Standalone. The developer I spoke with does not seem to understand that I want to skip and bypass Blender totally, so I'm not sure we can get more help from him.
