Fire logos

Would you agree that there have been three variants of the fire logo over the years:

https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/cat...01#T=C&C=0
https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/cat...7#T=C&C=15

Question is: mark them with a/the years in the prim title or "Type 1,2,3,"?

Some patterns are clearly wrong:

Thoughts?

Actually there are currently 8 different logos:
  • a) 1978-1993 (Legoland Town Era)
  • b) 1994-2000 (System and Town Junior)
  • c) 2004-2006 (World City and City)
  • d) 2007-2011 (City)
  • e) 2012         (Forest Fire)
  • f) 2013-2018 (City)
  • g) 2019-2021 (City Adventures)
  • h) 2022-2026 (Modern)

Admittedly some are rather similar and can probably reuse some sub-files, but they clearly are not identical.

The list does not include ones that only appeared on very few parts and those from non-minifig themes such as Duplo, Jack Stone, Technic, Fabuland etc.

I am strongly in favour of using the years to mark them.

"Type x" is too arbitrary Imo and requires more knowledge than "I want to use the logo from 2 years ago". How many different ones were inbetween? Are the "Type x" even in the correct chronological order? Those problems are much less a thing when using years. Same can be applied to other things, Star Wars in particular.

Agree that there are some errors in the current parts (especially the older ones).

EDIT:

Here's quick overview of those logos (images taken from Bricklink.com):

For Willy's purposes there are 3 3 color flames styles that are similar but not the same:
- 1978-1993 (No "tail" on the red and yellow flame)
- 1994-2000 (all 3 have tails)
- 2004-2011 (all 3 have tail but closer together). Note the 2004 and 2007 styles only seem to differ in outer shield)

Therefore I'd like to use years 1978, 1994, and 2004 for the different flame prims.

For 2012-Present the flame is one basic style

For the 2004-2011 and 2012-Present shield:
How much variation in color is there? If there's very little variation then I think we should just have a set of prims with hard coded the colors.

2012-2022 are identical except for colours and the extra borders in some. However, the 2013 one uses a 2-coloured flame instead of a monochrome one. There are also a few cases where the same flame was used outside of the logo.

For those maybe like this (only structure, not names)?

Prim 1 - (c16) Flame Left 2012 (used in Yellow, Orange, Br-L-Yellow, Red and a few more used on minifigs)
Prim 2 - (c16) Flame Right 2012 (used in Yellow, Br-L-Yellow, Red and a few more used on minifigs)
Prim 3 - (c16) Shield Inner 2012 (used in "unprinted", Silver, Red, Black)
Prim 4 - (c16) Shield Border 2012 Innermost (used in Red, Black, Br-L-Yellow)
Prim 5 - (c4?) Shield Border 2012 - 1 (only Red?)
Prim 6 - (c14?) Shield Border 2012 - 2 (only Yellow?)
Prim 7 - (c0?) Shield Border 2013 (only Black?)

The 2004 and 2007 ones seem to differ only in the outer borders as well. Though the flames are used without the shield as well.

So, I envision something like this:

logo-fire-1978-flames.dat
logo-fire-1978-flames-outer-box.dat
logo-fire-1994-flames.dat
logo-fire-1994-flames-outer-box.dat
logo-fire-2004-flames.dat
...

The flames are 20x20 LDU and should be scaled to fit the various patterns
