Post: Questions

Hi guys, I haven't been here a while and I just started using LDPE. I have installed it, played with it a bit, but I have some questions. I have found some documentation which has answered some of my...

    Thread: T-junction or sharp angle?
Post: Re: T-junction or sharp angle?

This doesn't prevent a T-junction, it just moves it: you now have a T-junction along the top ;-)

    Thread: T-junction or sharp angle?
Post: T-junction or sharp angle?

This question may have been asked before but if it has I couldn't find it. From the little I know about 3D modelling and rendering both t-junctions and long sharp triangles should be avoided if possi...

Post: Re: Part 272.dat

Looks like the outer wall on 272 should be modelled thinner. Don't have a physical part to check though.

Post: Re: Road base support

What do you need the support for? If it's just to make sure the road doesn't collapse when you place vehicles on it then I'd go with a plate and a tile. Yes, that's 16, not 18, but the difference is l...

Post: Modelling the inside of parts

Under what circumstances and to what extent should the inside of a part be modelled? The reason I'm asking this is that I'm working on the PF Track points and their 9V counterparts have the entire in...

It may be bad form to reply to my own post but I'd just like to remind the reviewers that the curved PF track piece needs some more votes. Magnus found a few minor issues that have since been fixed an...

Whoward69 = William Howard [WilliamH] I think he's worked on other train parts as well.

Back from holidays :-) I've just updated the subfiles for 53400 with the 20LDU versions and at the same time fixed the small issues that were mentioned in the comments. Back to work on the switches/...

Is it possible to run DATHeader without the UI? I know there's a command line option but that still just starts the normal application. Inspired by some of the build and deploy automation we use in w...

Post: Re: Train track 'resolution'

I don't understand what you mean... Where does 8/16/48 come from? Yes, 192 would be the next number in that sequence and 960 would be next, but I don't see what that means for these parts. The 10LDU...

They kinda go hand in hand though ;-) The file size reduction is because the number of quads in the rails is cut in half. The number of lines of course has also gone down.

Here you go, both versions to compare. The main part is the same for both, the difference is in the subfiles.

These 3 parts have a naming issue: 87994.dat Bar 3L 87994p01.dat Bar 3L with White Ends Pattern 2714.dat Bar 7.6L with Stop All three should have 2 spaces between Bar and the length like 30374 and...

Post: Train track 'resolution'

After I finished 53400, the PF curved track, I started on the PF points (53404 & 53407). As these are going to be big files I wondered if I could reduce the file size. The most obvious way would be to...
