BrickLink colour changes - Sylvain Sauvage - 2020-02-01 Hi all, BrickLink just changed the names for the Flesh colours: https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1178151 Actually, it started yesterday with replacing “Flesh” with “Nougat” but now they replaced the colour “Dark Flesh” with “Medium Brown” and added “Dark Nougat” (previously conflated with “Earth Orange”). Whoopee… maybe. RE: BrickLink colour changes - Philippe Hurbain - 2020-02-02 (2020-02-01, 23:55)Sylvain Sauvage Wrote: Hi all,Thanks for the heads up... Well, as I haven’t seen any discussion here about the new colours on BrickLink, and as I don’t know how new colours are discussed and added other than what was done before with this thread, and as knowing there’s a new update coming doesn’t tell me what will be in it, especially not colours, all I was saying and all I could say is: “Eh! In case you missed it, there’s new BL colours and names again. And here are they and some of their matches.” Also, as a secondary purpose, as Studio uses LDraw, and as the devs were (finally!) adding Neon Yellow & Medium Brown, I was also looking for LDraw colours that are not yet or not correctly matched to BL colours in Studio, so I could tell them (which I did for the ones I listed here) in the hope they would use the oportunity to add them to Studio too (which I think they will). (On another note, I’ve “subscribe and receive email notification of new replies”d on this thread but I only got one for Max’s message, nothing for yours. Or maybe I was still considered logged in when you posted? Annoying.) RE: BrickLink colour changes - Orion Pobursky - 2022-08-21 I think you took my message the wrong way. I wasn't trying to be flippant or dismissive. I was simply noting that there's time for discussion and inclusion in the next update. Yeah, sorry, maybe I’m a little touchy, and, well a “there’s time” would have helped On the other hand, I was hoping for quick answers about the matches while the Studio devs’ attention was on colours. Well, it may already be too late for that (you know, young ones’ short attention span… and there isn’t much time left for an August update). I meant: In the current LDConfig, — LDraw 86 Medium_Brown matches LEGO 217 Brown, — LDraw 370 Medium_Brown matches LEGO 370 Medium_Brown. So there’s two different LDraw colours with the same name. BL solved the problem by renaming the old one (LEGO 217 / BL 91) to Light_Brown. What
What happened to the Bionicle_* names to match the BrickLink names? Why revert to Peeron’s names? Also, now that BrickLink has Bionicle Silver to match LEGO 179 Silver Flip/Flop, LDraw doesn’t have a separate silver colour to match BL 95 Flat Silver (LEGO 315 Silver Metallic only). Studio uses LD 179 for BL 95 Flat Silver. Should Studio switch to Pearl Light Grey instead? It seems wrong to me. Well, it was already wrong before…. (Plus, it’s not for the immediate future but BL plans to split BL 66 Pearl Light Gray to separate LEGO 131 Silver from LEGO 296 Cool Silver.) Finally, if you don’t know yet, there’s a new LEGO Trans-Black colour arriving, so BL renamed BL 13 Trans-Black to “Trans-Brown (Old Trans-Black)” and created BL 251 “Trans-Black (2023)” (parentheses included and remaining for at least 6 months). RE: BrickLink colour changes - Magnus Forsberg - 2023-05-05 I made this after the development to summarize. 176, 178 and 179 are all related. Lego use "Flip-flop" and Bricklink "Bionicle". Thats not very informative. Maybe my search-fu is dismal but: First, I don’t call that “discussing ad nauseam.” Second, in the 2016 thread, Willy says “we should pack 135 with 296+131+315.” There’s a post by Philo then one by Sven and then Willy says “Nailed!” Is that the decision? It’s the only official text about colours and those are indeed only “considerations” but, as already mentioned here, there’s no indication on any process to add, change, or discuss colours. I understand if you want to keep things informal / on the forum but then don’t complain if the same question pops up twice again in 2029-2030 Finally, a few years ago, BrickLink planned never to separate some colours (“good enough,” “history,” “too late,” “impossible”…). Now they have separated Clikit Lavender and the Bionicle metals (especially silver). Things change. Forgive me for thinking a decision from 2016 may have had a chance of being re-evaluated in face of new elements. |
