Windows Sorting .dat files

Sorting .dat files
#1
Hi,
Is there any way to sort the .dat files by the category, the first line in the file is the category. I want to sort all the files into groups by category.
There are too many files to open each one manually.
Thanks
Chris

Yes, sorry about that. I am using windows 11. I guess a script would be needed to achieve this sort, maybe Python but that is what I need help with.

LDFind and LDStructure may be the best tool to use if you want to analyze the content of the whole library of part, but what do you want to do then?
Most model making SW already have parts sorted. You can't just sort the files in the parts-folder in windows, into new sub-folders, and then expect to have them sorted into categories.
What is it you want to do? Which program are you using?
